Re: anyone fishing 2021/04/12 12:14:13 (permalink)
I've been out for Trout once, got sick last week so couldn't go but look forward to some more this week.

Been just using Trout magnets for creek drift fishing. Always amaze me how these things work as well as they do. Just a float and then the little jig with a magnet on it, right above the bottom, not hitting, just floating a few inches off the bottom. Anything will hit it, Trout, Smallies, Rock, Catfish, carp.

It's pretty wild - last year due to Covid, I fished some streams around the PGH area that had Brookies and Brownies and no Rainbows. This year, no brookies, and way more bows. Feel like with the Coronavirus last year, stocking was all sorts of messed up and they just wanted fish in the waters. Never seen brookies so close to the city, so was a nice change.

You can add a few others to the list of amazing how they work. Like they are live bait out there. Don’t need to do anything dangling from a bobber and somehow fools so many different fish.

Just fished a small lake in eastern PA. You know factory level employee being asked to meet with three Colonels tomorrow... Out for an hour, got one largemouth (targeting pickerel). Using a fluke. Tossed out on a plastic worm hook and no weight. Let sit, twitch 2-3 times, let sit and repeat. Not too much harder than letting float on a bobber. Fish are dumb. But some think they know everything.

Youngest son and I fished Arthur this evening after the rain. First time fishin' it this year. Nice and peaceful with no boats, fishers or people seen the whole time.

Well if you like catching LM & Channel Cats it would have been good. We forgot the net and it was to much ov a pain since the fish were good size/weight. Figured the Crappie bite would be on but shut off at dark. Under 15 ov 'em caught between both ov us. Still enjoyed the time out with son. Third degree burns on top 1/3 of my right foot from a week ago is still far from healing, so no wading for me for awhile unless I toughen up like a man

Kevin, glad you made it out on Pymy. How the boat preform?

Chris I went out on my friend Tom's boat. Mine is ready just waiting on a cash infusion. The boat next to us was catching 10-12 inch perch one after the other. I couldn't see what they were using but they were casting and reeling in. We had worms and minnies too.

Well..... low 40s , rain and semi-frigid again today. Those 2 days last week got a lot of us all spun up. Then mother nature delivered a good swift kick in the nether region. Better days ahead, chums. Hopefully...

The Jackson model is way nicer but didn't want to spend the extra doe.

Tim, Timmy closed a deal today on a ranch house with two garages, one minute from Wilson's Launch and 5 mins. from our place north end ov Pymy, cash deal. Time for him to move his fishing crap and trucks off my property

Chris tell him to have a yard sale and call me. That's less he has to move.

Good one! He said thanks. It will be a nice place in farm country for him, son and girlfriend to spend some time. She wanted a ranch and he wanted a finished basement with buildings and privacy. I checked it out with him a while back and said not going to find a better built house nowadays. She loves to fish and he uses Wilson launch the most when up this way. He got a nice surprise today when lifted up some carpet

Carpet padding, Oak hardwood. I did buy a bunch ov mice/rat poison along with a pile ov house/garden bug supplies at going out of business auction this winter. Will set some around next time up just in case. Told him I'll only help him if he keeps the place and not sell for $100,000 profit. He said He'll keep it for a getaway.

Can't believe I just found 3 more bags ov Crappie fillets in freezer from him & girlfriend (last June) They gave us 3 trips worth, Need to eat more fish in this house. Heck those 77 Perch and 14 Crappie Tim and I kept from Pymy might get us through the year lol. Ov course he bought 18 bags of Rapala lures from Pymy area today while up there

Our first house had all hardwood floors. Tore the carpet up immediately and had them refinished. Was a great resale point.

I had to double take if cherry. Not used on floors very much.

Tell him congrats on the place. Sounds like a great investment.

Re: anyone fishing 2021/04/16 20:35:42 (permalink)
I would do all in slate flagstone but it gets so cold on the feet, have in bathroom at camp. Used a good bit of wormy chestnut for floors at camp. Yeah, Bought 500 sf of finished maple  t/g 3/4" a couple weeks ago if he wanted to do a room or two if he got the place. If not I would use on 2nd floor at camp. Hate carpet in the country, not so bad for a bedroom. Farm equipment and lots of wind north end of Pymy makes so much dust depending on wind direction plus all the grass cutting, bringing split wood & logs in. He has a nice fireplace in living room. Just going to save so much time and money that the house already has 'em.

Main change is it has water boiler heat through out the place. Not good for a getaway place. Did come with 250 gallons of fuel oil though so that will help on offsetting new furnace. Oh well getting way off fishing topic here even though it's going to become a fishing cabin.

 Sorry

Slate flagstone would look pretty awesome with that oak. I mean, it would look horrible and I can help you dispose of it in the back of my truck...

Carpet blows in the burbs too. Well at least for sissy’s like me that don’t like waking up and getting my toeggies cold! Ha ha. Don’t matter if dust, grass, mud, whatsoever. My dog rolls in whatever and brings it in.

Could be cherry? When he bought the place today then went to change locks I told him to check under carpet for hardwood. Think some states want $100 for one sheet of 3/4" plywood at the moment

Least he will be able to store some boats over winter in the garages if not totally stacked full of lures by then  Like the north end of that lake for ice out/spring fishing and the marina area is easy pickin's  for Panfish in late fall.

Why does PA get its own boards and us Marylanders gotta sift through pictures of carpet and hardwood floors to find the scoop?
