Moraine is shot in the azz. Water temp just doesn't wanna get to where it needs to be. Probably last trip out there. 😞😞😞😞

I went out for a bit today. Took me forever to change out an O2 sensor on my truck, which I was procrastinating my start this morning. Took me over an hour to just unplug the electrical harness! Then of course I didn’t have all of the tools needed and of course my local mom and pop hardware store that I like to give business to, didn’t have which added another 1/2 hour...
With about 3 hours of light, figured that I should opt to wade than deal with the boat. A bit of a breeze and temps in the 40s, made that decision easier.
Should have taken the boat... Find out 2 minutes into my trip that my winter waders have a hole. It is in the boot foot part, so only my one foot was wet and drained. With my alpaca socks, it wasn’t all that cold, but still not comfortable.
Fishing was okay, the catching was horrible. Had the bites, just couldn’t finish the deal. Trying to use two rods, which I should know better, had me fumbling gear too much. Caught a few, but one of the worst bite to hookup ratios that I have had in a long time. Not a good fall for me at all. Hopefully get a warm week or two in December to make it out.

20 more yesterday. Some really bigguns too. Was very cold and kinda windy, but we stuck it out. I was just happy Mags got the hang of fishing straight down and going by feel. She caught with me almost 50-50. Looking down the forecast, Thrusday is probably the last day. I'm gonna shut it down this weekend. Cover it up and give it a winter's nap till first ice out. Wasn't exactly a banner fall for us. Im actually a few packs short of winter quota. We are not hosting Christmas Eve 7 fishes this year, so that will take some pressure off. Maybe we get fishable ice, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

My freezer has some Members Mark breaded flounder fillets...  Hopefully it doesn't ice up too soon.  Would be nice to have at least one perch fry over the winter.

Pymie was 44°. Would love to get another day up'ere. Any bit of wind makes for a miserable day though as there's really no spots we fish that aren't in the main drag down Jamestown.

I'll maybe get a chance to get the boat out on the river this week or early next week as I've got 9 days off due to Covid exposure at work last Wednesday. Two co-workers tested positive and they're both sick, but I have no symptoms. I'm scheduled for a test at the Butler VA on Wednesday, so if I'm negative, I got 9 days off, (hopefully with pay, as I thought it's been said if you're forced to quarantine due to exposure at work ya get paid), I'll be likin' it.

10 day forecast is looking a bit chilly...  Looks like mid 40s is about as warm as we're going to see for a little while.  Guessing you ice guys will have a decent year, at least north of 80.

Anyone know if any skim ice is forming?  I had some on my pool cover, but syphoned the water off and ice is gone now.  Hoping the next few days is ice free?

3 months of reflecting of how bad of an angler I am, is not healthy.  Having another bad trip might send me to a therapist, but the risk that I must take!

If I get skunked, anyone happen to have a contact at Wholey's that will let me fish in one of their tanks?  C&R would be preferred...  But will definitely pay per pound.

No skim ice, but also not many fish willing to bite. Got to use my new waders which worked well and warm. The water was cold and wind tunnel of 528 in full effect until dusk, then calm. Thought things would turn on then, but not so much. 6 hours and only 4 fish, 2 decent crappie, a nice perch and a nice gill. They were okay fish, but 1/2 hour between bites and still horrible hook set ratio, with fish nibbling and not striking. I did get to eat some Fairground Market wings, so there was that... I think that I am going to admit that I am horrible at fishing. Not even sure why I torture myself.

Was a perfect day. Water temp was 36° . Zero wind and fish were biting. Double limit. About half were 10s-12s. Those rest were ALL 13s n up. We got 3 of the biggest I've ever caught. My PB 16" and 2 others 151/2. Finished up the season strong. Just wish we coulda got a couple more days, but I'm closing up shop.

I hate fishing! I’m done for the year. At least here. If I make it to FL, I’ll definitely fish. One bluegill!!! Seriously!!! I am a horrible angler. Can’t take it.

Don't feel bad. Moraine hasn't been right since May. The covid regattas everyday this year really put a hurting on it. Our cold , deep water spots have produced bubbkiss. Even strypes were off earlier in September n October. I mean what do you expect when Loudmouth Frank was out there holding seminars? 🤣🤣. Anyone else ever see someone fish elwive on a Spey rod. Lmao.. I chit you not.

Wer gonna branch out next spring. Takes about 25mins from here. Longs as you get to State Rd, I'll handle the rest. I'm sure Brock would be in for some hometown fishing. Good luck dahn FLA. Send me some pics..

Glad it isn’t just me. I did get a nice hit after I gave up on the panfish, swapped out with my larger gear and tossed some nighttime plugs. If I would have actually buttoned, the whole trip would have been considered a success. But missed it and next cast another swipe. After that, nothing. Good enough to get the blood flowing, but that was it. I’m much more into spring bite anyway. Wintersukksss

Skim ice on the pool cover this am.....wonder if there will be an ice season this winter....hoping to introduce my son to it....while we still can and not having to live in northern MN to experience a real winter....

Had some goods times on Kinzua pulling eyes through tiny holes.....and still had a blast not catching fish...but sipping whiskey, building a fire, cooking venison and shooting the bull....

Went out to Moraine with my boy on Saturday. We got into a few eyes and also missed a few strong takes. He got his first eye ever at 4 years old and it was a 25"er. Good times! Hopefully we get a few more days here or there in the 40's to get out again.

Hit the river on Monday hoping for some walleye action. Got blanked. Not even a nibble. Beautiful day and beautiful water though.
