It would be so awesome if that thing had a bar.

I hit Arthur yesterday. What a nice day. Which is about the only good thing that I can say about my trip... Not even a bit all day. A pretty stiff wind from S made things a little challenging to fish one of my favorite fall spots. After I gave up there, I moved to a few others that I figured the wind would help on my drifts. By the time that I made it to my third, the sun was starting to get over the trees and the wind completely stopped. I called it a day. While packing up, I knocked my trolling battery off of my boat smashing my trailer light and then the ground. I haven’t checked on it this morning to see if it is done or not. Kind of scared to try charging it. Will definitely do that outside to check. The casing didn’t seem cracked last night but was dusk when it happened and hard to see.

Nothing like a day on the dead sea to get you to question your ability as a fisherman.

Same thing happened to me last week. Beautiful day, just no fish. Been the same story the whole 2nd half of summer. Few catfish, few bass, lots of nothing else.

Has any one been having any luck in the bay? Just wondering with the weird fall temperatures we've been having.

Messed around out Moraine yesterday. Water temp went all the way up to 55. Had a very ugly color to it also. Fished crappies. Caught maybe 2 keepers and just a few dinks. They all went back. This is shaping up to a bad start of fall season. I'd venture to say its either gonna be into December or not at all. Typical 2020 weather pattern. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The bright spot was that my motor fired up and both it and my trolling motor seem to be working just fine after having issues with the gas last year and electric earlier this year.  That and it being Friday.  A few beers and knowing the weekend was there, I wasn't caring at all about it.  Getting skunked on a Sunday is rough.

I did end up putting a hole in my trolling motor battery, which is only about 2 years old, so need a new one of those.

Hopefully I will find some time in the next couple of weeks to make up for this skunking.  I'm not sure if I can handle a double skunk, especially on a Sunday...

My boat was put into its annual winter slumber, time to switch over to the DHALO's and maybe up Erie for some steel.

Better than the skunking the last time out, but not too much...  Between two of us doing 5-6 hours, maybe 10 perch, 2 largemouth and a gill.  The supposedly low winds were blowing directly on us and neither of us dressed for it.  Crazy how 5MPH gusts, feels much more like 10-15MPH sustained...  Had enough bites and misses to make it interesting enough.  Having a few more layers on would have made it much better, but always good to get out.

Trying to take my son and his friend to twin lakes shortly.  I know its short notice....but anyone know of any bait shops open today?  I called the place on Rte. 30 in the fireplace store, not open today and Jimmy's didn't answer.  There used to be a place close to the lakes in a guys garage, is he still there and open on Sunday's?  Been a couple years since I fished twin lakes and this will be my first time fishing this year......ouch....
Looking mainly for panfish or anything that bites.  We will start out in the upper lake, I think...

can’t help ya with bait shops but i catch lots of panfish on 2.5” gulp minnows that you can get at pretty much any big box store. trout magnets or crappie magnets good too. the trout magnet jig heads are the perfect size for gulp minnows. trout in twin lakes should bite either one too - think they still get a generous fall stocking.

Thanks snagr..
Wally World was out of bait so we called Jimmy's one last time on our way and they were open....got what we needed....
Fishing was slow for us (I don't normally do the trout thing) but there were some people around us picking off a few...some pretty nice ones well over 20" too.
Myself and my son's friend had several missed hits over the afternoon but my son only had one hit and landed a 10" rainbow.  Released to fight another day...  Most all our hits were on minnies under a small float....I was hoping for some crappie but no go....we used spinners and micro plugs too with no hits...as well as an assortment of gulp minnies I always have....
Kids passed the slow time whittling away on pieces of wood they found and talking about goofy stuff 12 year olds talk about....much better 5 hrs spent out there....rather than them on the xbox.

With this at home learning, its hard to have the kids "knock off" a day during the week. Glad you got them out for a little. 👍👍

sounds like a great day gillz.

pens, i'm with ya on the knocking off school.  last spring we got a lot of fishing in cause my kids only had to do their assignments and then they were done for the day.  last week they went back to online, but now the teachers are live and they have to be logged in in front of the camera for all their classes and participate in class.

Took the kiddo's out to Moraine the past two weekends for a few hours before dark. Lot's of perch, crappie, bass and even a few pike. Kid's had a blast. I'm sure as the cold continues to stick around the Perch fishing will get better.

Got Walleye???

Glad someone is catching them.  It was slow going for me on Saturday.  Enough action to not give up on the year, but have had much better.  I like when the pike are around, although I have them hit my bobber more then they will go after anything that I target them with...

Took Maggie (the 12yr) up Pymie today. Got 30. Some slabs in the mix. No wind but it was still freezing. Now maybe she will stop houndin' me to go. 😆

The know when I am after them. They would only fall for that if I were watering the bushes and not paying attention.

Sounds like a good problem to have  keep her happy and you should have at least another 3 or 4 years of excuses to get out to fish...and teach her to out fish the boys!

have heard about the late fall nighttime crappie bite on arthur a couple times so decided to see if i could figure out how it works tonight.

got there at 6 and thought i was onto something with 2 @12” and 1 at 10” in the first 20 minutes, but then it was just dinks here and there. enough to keep me out there till 8.

sure wasn’t too crowded - just me and some coyotes on a distant ridge.

I think the action is going to get better, especially if the wind kicks up some and we get some rain. The cooler temps should bring the perch in, in greater numbers.

Be safe if you hit Upper 528, when the deer hunters start showing up.  They get way too close to the lake and I don't trust half of them to pass up a shot at a trophy buck that is between them and me wading.  Always good to wear something bright orange this time of year.
