hockeyfish,

Sorry to hear about your mom.  That had to have been a tough time for you and your family and most likely will always be a bit diffucult.

Thanks for sharing your story.  It is truly amazing how generous some folks can be and how much people really do care about each other.  It sounds like the lady at Chippers is a wonderful person.  I have never been there, but after hearing your story, I will make an effort to check them out.

that's a touching story.

I'm pretty sure Elk Creek Inn was closed when we tried to stop there back in October.

I'd also like to know where Chippers is if somebody's got an address.
Is this it?

thanks guys....and apparently gals as well....for the nice comments. chippers is kinda up behind mercyhurst college. its off of i believe east grandview and rt 8. if you are on 38th going east past mercyhurst, turn right at the light where the cornerstone is....you will pass a dairy queen and come to a light with country fair on your right. just as you go through the light there is a bar on your right....on the corner. thats chippers. kinda small and even a bit smoky at times....but the wings are awesome and you have to try the "house" dip that comes with the veggies. If i didnt love eating it so darn much i would wear it as deoderant....its so good. oh boy.....i have to go there and get some.

They have the best wings and the coldest beer in town. The only problem for me is that it is right on the way home from work everyday and my truck automatically pulls in for a drink...lol

Chippers..Good people. Place has been around forever. 3rd generation family business.
Kind of like a little neighborhood hangout. Me and my wife spent a bit of time there before we left Erie.
Corner of Pine St (rt 8 ) and E. Grandview. Tiny little building across from Country Fair and Kmart.
And yea, she can cook.

i stopped in yesterday to chippers for a beer and wings....today is the 3 year anniversary of my moms passing so yesterday would have been 3 years since i met mardy, the lady who owns th kitchen at chippers. i didnt have to say anything to her.....she said she was hoping i would stop in so she could give me a hug and she knew what the day was.....pretty classy.

Any of you ever hit Calfin's on Rt6?  Awesome watering hole and great food!

Ronnie and I always stop there on the way home and do a burger and beer. Great food. Waitress says the meatball sub is the best. Will try that next time.
