Schroon Lake

Looking for some reports on Schroon Lake. How much snow on the lake and ice thickness, etc. Is the lake accessible by ATV or strictly snowmobiles. Brant Lake had quite a bit of snow and only 1 ATV was spotted on a matted down snowmobile trail. Other than that, snowmobiles were the only thing moving today. We are heading to Schroon Lake Tuesday and Wednesday with my nephews.

    fished Schroon yesterday > see the report
    there is 6" snow on top of 4" slush with 12" ice under all that
    you CAN get out with an ATV from the Beach > north end or the Narrows Mid or Adirondack south
    sure wish i had brought mine , there were others.
    the walking & dragging was tough we went out about 200 yards
    fishing was slow, 15 tip-ups , 10 w/suckers > 3w/shiners > 2w/fatheads
    iced 1 short laker on sucker , 1 other missed flag & 1 - 21" laker on rod & reel.
    not many people out where we were , lots up north by beach.
    2 police on snowmobile checked everyone for license & bait slips.

          Thanks for the info. I thought that looked like Schroon Lake in your picture. We usually access the lake by the beach or the end of fowler ave. This will be our first trip there this season, so I will be trying the tips you gave me in an earlier post. Will let you know how we make out.
