Crappie did you say 26 Rattlers found in Tionesta ? Wow ! That black one is a beauty ...is that color phase rare ? Never seen one that dark in pics.

Thunder where abouts you find them in Pa.? Not that I want a exact spot burn just don't want to be in the general area. I take it these hunts are in summer .

Yea, his family has a camp there. Think late summer while scouting for deer. He trapped, Fishers, Bobcat & yotes up there also.  He harvested 2 black bear (bonus tag) this yr. and some snowshoe hare up there also.My snake hunting days are over since high school. Dang things would put their defensive slime stink/stench on me too many times. Still pick up the non venomous ones to scare the old lady & my brother but ain't lookin' for 'em.

Never said my son's buddy is all there...

Holy **** ! That sucks! I always carry a little kit with me forceps alcohol whipes needle tweezers for ticks! Ouch, how the hell he do that lol ....but no captain there yellow or black phase that one was fresh shed that's why it was so vibrant.....he must know of a den area to find that many there's not a bunch around tionesta although iv never looked there, we head east and camp it the heart of snake country Cameron, elk, center, makean buddy has a camp not far so that makes half the drive to those areas we got bluff charged by a huge bear, found those snakes and seen a respectable 6x6 bull all in that day I can't wait for spring to go back season is June mid way till August 31 or something like that I'll have to check ... there very cool creatures and live in amazing areas!

That one is the bear track we walked up on it at 10 yards drinking in a creek behind some brush, iv been bluff charged elk hunting...this bear didn't actually charged but it stood there popping it's jaws holding it's ground for about 5 min before it calmly walked off very Erie feeling without a gun

Cool pictures Thunder.

I would stop at the rest area west bound I-80 at Snowshoe. A that time construction of a trucking terminal to the right of the area, was in progress.

Signs posted everywhere, advising of rattle snakes being disrupted from the construction and were, in the area.

Also got to speak to a couple fellers a few years back who said a great place to find rattlers is around the old saw mills.

Crappie I've heard of "quil art" but holly pin cushion. lol

Great pics guys.....got to like the piercing one !....lol  Sounds like that boy enjoys living on the edge sometimes .

Never seen a Snowshoe, but my buddies hunted them up near the NY line and got them.

I hear you on the bear Thunder ....I had a sow and two cubs walk up to me one deer season within 20 yards.... just barely daylight...I let out a cough so they wouldn't get any closer....she stopped , sniffed and took off up the rocky ridge ....I was sweating some because my gun wasn't even loaded yet!

Had a work buddy mauled by a Montana Grizzly while archery hunting Elk....lucky to be alive today....his story was in one of the national hunting magazines about 6 years ago.

Ever see a buck killed in rifle season that never rubbed off it's velvet  ?  My buddy shot this one years ago in Tionesta where we hunted. You could almost rub a comb across all those long hairs. We called it Harry Buck .......lol
