To all smoking litter bugs, please don't empty your ash tray in my parking area. I love when someone dumps a hundred butts in a pile. It looks so natural in the middle of the lot. Should bust then for every butt. That would add up.lol

fisherofmen376 And while I'm at it...Jeenee where yinz at??? Member when you said "bet me" that the run was gonna be less this year? And others were sayin it hadn't even really started yet because of warm temps? Well, if you got back in the game you'd see that the run is not less this year....it's lookin very promising, just a little late (maabee epik). Start a new page in yer notebook.
don't need to start a new notebook. right here's good enough have you counted fish in Elk and Da Nut yet? or still waiting for rain and cooler temps? there's nothing new under the sun Runs are very predictable by mid/late Sept always has been always will be if there isn't enough fish in Elk and D'Nut now to make it "worth it" to some...may as well stay home. 'cause there's as many fish as there's going to be note, that doesn't mean no more fish are coming ...there certainly are more entering ..just like they have been since Sept. Just not going to be mass waves to out pace what's being being picked off every day what you see now, is what you can expect til ice over ..L.T.A.
Sounds good Genie...I’ll keep fishing and you keep prognosticating.

I'll say one thing ....this had to be the shortest season ever ! Fish that showed came in real late , rain messed the creeks up for a time, and now the cold and snow. Waiting on spring.... Let me know when they come back down to Rt. 5 !......lol

One of my best winter evenings years ago was New Year's eve.....access of Elk Creek....hardly anyone around and the creek was high and green and the big Steelies were hungry..... landed some real nice size fish.

oh to be young again .. I've enjoyed more than a few days winter fishing 25-30 degrees, little/no wind, open creek, snow falling blanketing the woods and banks ...."magical" fished a few winter days that weren't any fun ...namely mega slush . ain't none of that fun "enough" to me anymore...I'm ole duud and truth is, I've ALWAYS preferred the early season ...not the mild weather. Less pressure, (like cold weather) and if a guy would "take a chance" and not bother with the 27 fish surrounded by 39 sticks in the ManHole ...you might discover, they were "above rt 5" .....too and it's prettier .LT.A.

I'm still hitting the stream fairly regularly but I only fish for about 2-4 hours then head home. Morning bite is always the best. Today was snow, rain, pellet snow, more rain, heavy snow. 37 degree water, high and green. Fished till 10:30. Ran into a total of 3 people the last two days. Once it gets below 32 for the high temp of the day, I go into hibernation mode.

sure its a diff time now captn.. i guess im old too having enjoyed the glory days too .. but im doing alot more fishing closer to home now as for me the whole size thing doesnt matter anymore as i find much more solace in catching native trout this time of year in full spawning colors a 7in brookie in a 6 ft wide stream is jus as large as a steelhead in elk plus it hasnt been hammered by the gauntlet of fisherman guess im gettin old but way happier
I have become comfortably numb
