I like catchin' whatever is bitin', but my main attractant is walleye and pike. Walleyes are the preferred target, but I don't mind a little slimin' every now and again.

Don't know how this turned into a c. lake thread, but if you wanna fish it without all of the hub bub emitch get there early in the AM and leave by 10. Might still be a few skiers out, but MOST of the early morning ones are courteous.

Back to pymy...anyone still picking up any eyes drifting? I haven't been out for a while and I'm jonesin'. Planning on fishing with dad for father's day. Might end up going to erie though.

The past few times i was at old pymy there was no wind to drift and jig. I did how ever pick a few eaters up trolling up North. O and a couple down south one day too!

BT, I've come to the conclusion that there is NO contour map available for Coneaut anywhere. Hard to believe with it being the lake where the PA. record for Musky came from, and also holds a pretty good population of the other game fish. Seems to me that would create an opportunity for an entrepreneur or a company, and it was surprising to me that Fishing Hot Spots didn't have one. When and if I get the chance to fish it, I'll just have to wing it with the electronics.

Does the link to a bathymetric map of Conneaut Lake on the following page lead to anything of value to you?

Chuckles thanks for the link, very interesting info.  But, the map we seek is just a good ole paper hydro-graphic map showing the contour lines.  I purchased such maps years ago, measuring 24" by 30" of Pymie, Wilhelm and Shenango but the only thing available today, it seems, is for 'puters and smart phones.

I even went as far as contacting NOAA, who found nothing as far as "paper maps" regarding Conneaut but they were kind enough to forward me a link to yet another Map App.

The gooder part about the app, Pymatuning is included (to be expected) which makes it OK to discuss the printed map on this thread.  Sorry

FISHING REPORT.  Fished the south end on Saturday catching perch, sunfish, catfish and 2 walleye (1 large keeper and 1 14" throwback and lost another big one at the boat).  Drifted small spinners with nightcrawlers and jigs with nightcrawlers.  Fish seemed to stop biting for us around 9am.  Tried trolling at our usual spots but could not get any to bite.  Water was warm.  Good Luck.

Crawlerman thanks a boatload for providing the link for printed maps, much appreciated. Tried a quick search of the sight, using my phone, for "Conneaut Lake" but that's like using a pop bottle for a magnifying glass. Can't wait to get on my 'puter and check the link. Thanks again. 👍

BT, that's the link to Fishing Hot Spots, but they don't have a map of Coneaut. You may remember you've already queried them? But fellow member OUTASYNC e-mailed me and oldie but goodie, and it's a beauty. Problem is it was a PDF file, and when it goes through the copier, the gray background comes out so dark I can barely see the map. I can see it well when I open the attachment. So, I'm tryin' to see if there's some way I can convert it to a jpeg, then import it into PAINT, and edit out the background, and enlarge it and print it. BTW, although it's old, this map is far more detailed than the others, but any of them gives me more than enough info to find and check what I think will be the fish holding spots easy enough.
Thanks again to all involved!

Emitch thanks, I've not a chance to pull the sight up on my 'puter.

I tried printing maps from the nav apps as well and got the same result because the contour lines are so close.

If not already, you should be receiving a half aszed map hopefully you can use.

Hope you're recovery is going well and see you on the water soon.

ATTE very nice catch, congratulations.👍

Yinzes c the slab on crappie crazy, maybe new world record. He caught one the yr. before from same pond but ate it. I'm sure most all fish records have been broken numerous times but released/mounted or eaten. Who cares really??

Thanks guys...a few were over the 1 lb mark...wish I had a better grasp of the eye bite right now but taking two weeks off from pymy and two hours away seems like always starting from scratch...a few boats were trolling the deep channel all day but I wasn't close enough to see if anyone doing any good...tried jigging a few deeper humps with crawlers for the first few hours with small perch and bluegills then tried crappie bite...first spot produced so stayed there till got our limit...hopefully get back up next week.

Was gonna make a trip up to the big pond today, but it was a bust with the wind. Ended up being a nice day to drift pymy with the wind cranking though. Haven't been out there for a few weeks and had to work for a few fish. Left with 2 eyes in the box, and a few nice perch. Probably be out again tomorrow or Tuesday to ride the waves. Good luck fellas!

Fished the south end yesterday. Perfect conditions but only some small eye and a half dozen channel cats in the 18-26' range. Caught the cats trolling with spinners and even one on a hot n tot. Every time I hooked up I was certain it was a nice eye. NoT

Too hot for me to fish by the time I got out of the fun factory today. Ended up taking the dog for a swim on the north end to cool off and found a few lures too boot. Any good reports for the day? There was lots of boats out baking in the sun when I was there. Somebody had to have boated a few fish.

As a side note and not to spot burn :), but a certain ice cream shop in espyville actually caters to your pooch and offers a doggie dish on the menu. I know Nina was a much happier camper after a dip in the lake and some vanilla custard on a day like today 👍.

Headed somewhere tomorrow morning, just not sure where. I've got a bunch of crawlers that are just begging to be breakfast for some lucky fish. Tight lines!!

Was out on the kayak from 8am till around 4pm. Caught a ton of largemouth and a few smallies. Hooked into something by a few tree stumps that took me for a ride. But it ended up throwing the hook after a few moments.
