Orange need only be 'within' 15 feet seen 360 degrees around the blind. Looks like you are good to go.

Dam fine looking shanty, I might add.

Ummm, that is orange we see and, not pink?

OK, gotta be a hundred sq. inches of orange seen 360 deagrees. So is that 100 sq. inches from all directions or is it just 100 sq inches seen 360 degrees. I.e., 5" x 20" ribbon wrapped around a tree 15' from or, above the blind?

None of my business what color you paint your deer blind. LMAO

Does look good Steve. Hopefully I can frame a similar structure for next year, providing I don't move down stream from yinz.

BTDT,easiest way to explain, 100 square inches. Four sides seen from  360 degrees=  10" high and wide. So make a little square box and glue it to the top. lol  Or get the Amish kids to drive your property and sit on your porch. Last year the Amish hunters drop there non gun toting kids in my side yard to put on a drive.lol

Monday morning sat 4 hrs in morning at home here in swamp did not see a deer but eagles and woodpeckers put on a show.
Spent 2nd half of day on hill at other property saw 26 deer 4 bucks including my 3rd nonlegal BIG forkhorn of the year stead action but no shot.
This morning sat on hill again 4 hrs not 1 deer seen only heard 2 shots. On my way out I kicked up a 8 pt close enough to shoot but not safe shot so I began mumbleing STUPID DEER.On my way home I saw a big fork horn dead that was dumped on a logging road.I like AR's but think if rack is out past ears we should be able to shoot it no matter the points.

Good news coming from across the beaver pond. Neighbor walked into the wilds about 1:00 PM yesterday and by 3:00 was announcing the taking of a fine 6 point.

Today, from another part of Penn's Woods came a picture of a 9 point now hanging in my brother's garage.

Well I was told today that I was credited by one of the local hunters where I hunt for him getting a 8 pt with 18โ€ spread Tuesday afternoon . The guy told my relative that I kicked it out to him as I was leaving at 4:30 from my shanty in the thicket . Now I heard a shot at 4:30 but I didnโ€™t leave shanty until 4:40 thinking who did the shooting might have missed .... but when I see the gentleman I will surely tell him youโ€™re welcome ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ‘.... figure somebody most have seen me leaving and thought I kicked it out , oh well the guy is disabled ... meaning he as heart problems .... so very happy for him , now if I could just get a picture of it... figure it was one of the nicer bucks I had on my cameras ..... taking a couple days off raining here anyhow ... will get a few days hunt in with my son .... Saturday , Monday & Tuesday looking forward to that .... so good luck guys .... be safe !!

Mopars let me begin by first saying a mutual acquaintance of ours, says to tell the "Old Man" hello.

Congratulations to you and your son on his successful hunt but the season is just starting to get exciting, ya don't wanna give up now.

Not much happening in my little piece of the Pennsylvania Wilds, haven't spoken to anyone that got lucky.  Shots around here were sporadic with what little shooting coming in volleys from across the hill tops.

Few minutes after 5:00 PM,  I could hear coyotes coming up through the hollow just south west of my sitting position.  Hoping to increase my chances of hearing and seeing what I could see, I stood and climbed atop my shooting bench where I saw what I should have known what I would see.  Lined across the woods edge bordering a corn field, orange vest and hats, waiting as others pushed through the marshy low land, howling and yipping like yotes.  That area must have gotten cleaned out through archery, no shots fired.

Weatherman calling for sunny and warm conditions tomorrow through Wed,  time to dig out the orange speedo, durag and, tank top.  A hunting I will go!!!!

Did get a thrill while walking out of the woods after hunting all day. Found this lying on the ground in a bunch of fallen Hickory nuts on the ground. First ever one for me ! Amazing how shape it is .

I found one of those many years ago while trout fishing a mountain stream. I was in the process of having a flintlock custom built for my Dad for Christmas and had the builder inlay it in the stock. He was quite the expert on those types of things and told me that due to the size, shape, and color (which are all similar to the one shown) that it was not an arrow head, but rather from a fish spear, which made a lot of sense from where I found it.

The poster formally known as Duncsdad

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

Really cool find Captain, if that piece could only talk.

Mopars I bet you could find some really neat Seneca Indian artifacts in this area.  Especially after Pontiac was finished with it.  Elm actually being Elk, I think.

Not sure ,could be a fish spear head, no water around where I found it, mostly all solid woods and fields for miles, not even any small creeks to speak of near by. Only about and 1 1/2" long but very sharp for stone. Just got lucky and stopped in the right place and happen to look down.

Old friend of mine had a nice collection he had built up over the years , claimed a lot found around the east side of Shenango Lake shorelines.

Re: Bow season .... let the fun begin 2017/12/06 18:28:42 (permalink)
Steve did you ever pass through that area and think about what happened there in mid June, 1763?  Kind of gives me a haunting feeling.

So far 7 doe in three days.  Just before sundown yesterday, while hanging onto my ladder stand, three doe about 75 yds standing broadside on a old farm lane.  They continued looking behind as if there might be more deer and I was soooo hoping a legal buck might appear.  But nope, I just hung onto the tree while they faded away as darkness fell.

Tonight, while hanging onto that same tree, the Dutch opened fire about a half mile to my northwest and before long I had the cross hairs of my 4 power Foremost scope leveled on 1 of 3 doe less than 30 yds away.  Safety now off and just needed to squeeze the trigger ever so slowly, but dam she was so darned cute with those big ears and brown eyes.

Pretty sure I heard them Dutchman hootin' and hollering, thinkin' I never saw the deer......  toopid englushmun, YAH!!!

Maybe, might, could, get some snow tomorrow night and hopefully that adds to once again, enjoying the Pennsylvania Wilds.

Puttin' your huntin' stuff away so you sayin', it's near time for gettin' the fishin' stuff out? lol   Sure hope we don't get too much snow, if we do I'm gonna have to mash it down cause I sold my trusty WheelHorse,  snowblower and all.  Put my new snow removal device on hold til we see what happens in the next week or two.  Real Estate dude coming tomorrow, sure hope he has a deal I can't refuse.
