Ok I'm ready and its about to get real starting this weekend until probably April. Alot of meats have sat on this table and I'm quite sure a few deer and many fish will before its over. All fun stuff. Ps. I scored this awesome crate for kindling. It holds a ton.

Rg, that stove was salvaged 10 years ago from our 5th wheel camper at deer camp for over 20 years that we basically lived in for weeks at a time. Camper is long gone but the stove lives on. Heats my 860 square man cave quite well with some heat to spare towards the house. Sadly its super inefficient. Eats wood and I feed it well. Its 80 degrees in here now.

Mine will take a log over 2 feet but-as you say- very inefficient- constantly reloading. Try some aluminum foil around the door- cuts the way too open space around the door itself. Long way from the one in my last house- load lasted about 6 hrs.

It really cooks when I get it glowing , lol. It made for some snoring and dry mouths in the camper, we ran stovepipe out side window. My only heat is woodstove and pellet stove. Pellets are very efficient, the stove starts and stops at set temperature. I use 2 ton at about $500. Per winter heat. We set our house at 50 before we leave for work in am. Don't take long to get to 80 when we get home in the dark.

I also have a monster of a hot air wood furnace in the basement of the big house. I remember installing it just before Jimmy Carter became president. It would eat 10 cord a season for my old 2 story general store/ farmhouse. To big to stick over here. Between my main house and addition us old folks ( wife and I) live in we run 2 pellet stoves ( 1 is 33 years old) and a woodstove to heat about 4,500 square. Lots work on my family digs but it's fun watching the family grow. About 3 weeks wood while I'm away. Come late November till March, that's about 2 weeks at best

I burn 12 to 15 a winter. We have a stove in the basement. It will keep the basement 85 plus. It does well keeping the upstairs above 65 plus until the temps get below 20 , but below 20 it struggles to hit 63 unless I am feeding it nonstop. Below 10 the boiler kicks on at 61 every now and then. Lucky we like it cold (61). I still only burn a tank of fuel a year give or take and that include hot water that is made by the boiler too. Lots of work, but ok for what it saves. We burned 3 plus tanks one year we did not do wood

I remember those days growing up Clint. Feed the furnace in the basement, cut, split and fill after school. The furnace has sat idle for about 25 years . I don't want to try and resurrect it at this point. I'm lazy now with the pellets. 4 trips to the supplier, set it just enough so pipes don't freeze ( they sometimes do ) and load the box stove when I get home. We have no other option here. In sub zero, it will be in the high 40s when I get home but close to 80 by 7pm

Dive bar in Texas for a benefit concert Tuesday. Wish I was there. I've been to their shows, in that presence and close encounters at high prices of less than a 20 spot. It sure makes for good fun and beats the costs of rotation. 8 days and counting until they come to my front row in Connecticut https://youtu.be/FqybFQ0jAi0

What's pretty fun at my stage in life is that I've taken others along on incredible journeys in life. Seen so many smiles on kids , adults and grandchildren for fishing opportunities I've offered. Hunting that has put lifetime memories. Opening the eyes of the world in music seeing and meeting hall of fame artists also the local community music that give it their all. Growing and harvesting our daily meals. My wife has been rock steady and after 35 years married is getting it more and more. This is fun stuff.....

I spent a little time on the mountain, I spent a little time on the hill. We didn't harvest anything and it was an interesting adventure. Last night my son came in around 7pm. In a way, it felt like me and my dad. We played cards and hit the sack by 9pm. In another way it felt like the times have changed. Cell phones and modern weapons seemed to be a distraction of what once was. I've been told many times not to fear change but I really do feel saddened by technology. Next adventure is the last waltz in Connecticut on Friday, 5 days in the woods starting Saturday.
It was snowing pretty good when I left

Super cool Irish, I appreciate seeing the pic and vid.
Check the back tarsals and the neck looks swollen.

Saw an albino Buck here in Ct about 45 years ago. Was still hunting with the recurve bow in a State Forest and as I stopped for a while it came in, passing me at about 20 yards in the thick Mountain Laurel. Said to myself- 'somebody lost a goat'. As it hopped off a bit later I saw the horns. OOps. Mentioned it at a nearby diner several weeks later and was told a Vol. firefighter hit it on a road rushing to a call very near where I had seen it.

I wonder if there's not some kind of genetic anomaly in my area. I've lived here 38 yrs and have seen 4 different ones, spaced out years apart. 'Course here in suburbia there's just an awful lot of deer, period.

I saw an albino that was struck and killed this past spring on Rt 84 near Carmel NY, approximately 15 miles west of Danbury CT. They have a herd of albino deer on the Seneca Army Depot. https://www.senecawhitedeer.org/
