FishErie Freezout V!!

Its that time of year again, where we should have ice for the next month or more.  This year will be the fifth freezout and should be a good one.  Im thinking sometime in Febuary because we should have good overall ice and a few good fishin holes patterned to host it near.  The annual freezout usually consisted of awards with prizes and certificates, this year were going to have a $5 "buy in" for anyone who wants to enter.  Biggest perch in length will win half of the entree's, and biggest fish of any kind in length will win the other half of the money.

Everybody is welcome. Bring a dish of some sort, as we usually have a gathering spot with a few grills goin and some great grub cooking.  Regardless, it should be a hell of a time with good food and great company.

Let me know whos interested and I'll start making a roll call.  Again, I'll set an official date later in time. I forgot to mention to anybody new, the Freezout is basically an ice fishing party for the board here, and it takes place on Presque Isle Bay.

Well, as uncomfortable as I feel about ice fishing, it may not take too much arm twisting to convince me to get out there for a gathering of this board.  The couple I've been involved with have been awesome, and can't imagine this would be any less fun.  I'll have to keep an eye on the buffet menu to truly make up my mind.

Id like to but depending on my shift I have to work then, and if I can convince the old lady to let me buy some ice fishing equipment. Also the health of my son. Hes been pretty sick lately but as of the other day hes doing well. have a check up for him at 1 so if hes healthy, I get the ok from the mrs, and not working. Count me if and if anyone near johnstown interested in going we should meet up.

I and my daughter are in this year as long as it isn't the weekend of the 16-17.

Better too far back, than too far forward.

I and im sure others have plenty of ice rods, jigs and augers if you need something.  Its not all about fishing anyways, its about the company of the boards, its just a great time.  If you need something, let me know.

Give it up guys.  There hasn't been a get together/endeavor yet where we haven't had an, "I sure would love to join you guys, but something else came up and I couldn't find you or my checkbook or a ride or ..."  K16 just wants to be included and invited, but won't show.  It's nice of him to let us all know what's going on in his day to day life, though.  I don't know what we'd do without that knowledge.

On a side note:  if I were to decided to go, and dig out my Dad's ancient ice poles, what line should I put on them?  They haven't been on the ice in several decades, and may not even be usable, but I know for sure any line on them won't be.  If I remember correctly, some have a nylon/fabric type line on them.  oLd duud.

How big a hole do I have to blow in the ice so I can get a good drift with my fly?  I have all the C-4 I need.

Since I haven't ice fished in  . . .Oh about 35 years I would like to try to try it once again.  If I can't attend I may be able to send one of my "representatives";  if that's OK?  But I would like to at least try to show up.  Does anyone know where they make chains for canes?

Skip, Well you could always arrange for somebody to just tip me over and push me around on the lake.  Or give me a big umbrella to use as a sail.  I really would like to TRY to come up.  Goodness knows I can't do much but maybe act as an ice breaker.  You could make up a sign that says "Please Don't Feed the Walrus"!

In case it matters, I'm out if it's the first weekend (2nd-3rd) (camp), or the third Saturday(16th) (cookies will be in).  The other weekends are open for me.  If I bring the boy, he'll be doing the fishing, not me.
