Short of gun shows (big $$$$) and a few shops that save it for " valued customers" any ammo other than shot gun slugs is like like an Atlantic Salmon. You hear on someone gettin some, but never actually see it in person. At the last gun show a brick (550 rounds) of .22 which used to be $17 was about $120.

Spring....ahhhhhh.... well it looks like the rain for this week isnt gonna pan out too much.... just warm... id say drop back season is in full effect as soon as that warm sun hits the water today... beaver dam creek showed decreased numbers this past weekend than previously... took a walk along some natal waters and saw some bright silver fish setting up to spawn. That high water mustve brought in a batch of fresh spring runs... if i could only hire a 5 man crew to do my yard work lol... hopefully the long term wont pan out for next week as it is showing cold again at this point

Kinda figured this would be the week- complete with a fresh bunch of fish. High water is not for many of us- makes a tough trip even if ya do manage to score-heck -even DSR closed for Customer safety. Those drops wont be picking their way back to the Lake- they will be buzzing.

Well with the nice weather today and no appreciable increase in the run off I would say snow pack is about done running off. Dropped it to 1250 for tomorrow and if no real rain I would not think 750 is out of the question for the weekend if the rain stays lite. According to Whitakers water temp is 36 I would guess It will be in full bloom by the end of the week. Maybe a little fishing for me after work by the end of the week. I have to work Saturday and have Sunday ad monday off. We will see

Clint, dont know myself first hand but id like to see myself firsthand whats left in the upper reaches of the basin. Maybe a little something left to run off??? Regardless, after this shot of warm weather we're back to high forties and low fifties for highs and cold nights.... water temp may only be in the low forties for the first of may????

Well my friends went up Saturday riding and I saw a few pictures. There were still a few dark spots that had 10 to 12 inches. He said the road next to Highmarket had enough to make it VERY VERY tough (almost impassable) to navigate with a 4x4 wheeler. I am sure there are bits and pieces up there with a little left. Heck, where it comes off my metal garage roof I still have a very small pile. I am with you water is cold and this is really an extended spring. If it goes to about 1200 or so I may give it a wirl

Brookfield bumped it to 2100 again and now warm rain today. Temp didnt even go below 60 last night. Tug must be melting off the last of its bulk. These water levels are definitely promoting healthy undisturbed natural spawning...

There is alot less rain in the forcast after today and yea I think the melt off should be done. Let's see what they do next week. Agreed there will be alot of water for these fish to do what they have to do

Thats too bad bear... im sure you'll have time for one more shot...
Poor water management. Everything else blew out twice in the past 3 weeks and now are stabilized with good flows. Although the salmon has been running high, i wouldnt say its blown out yet this season at all. One of these days brookfield should lobby to get a flow gauge set up on the upstream side of the dam at all inlets. They would end up benefitting power wise as well as they would not waste any water/$$$$$$$

Wow, brookfield states sever flood conditions are present... spill gates open... im just waiting to see what the pineville gauge is gonna read once it catches up... hopefully all anglers and boats out this morning are safe and off the water... What really sucks fishing wise is fish will now be spawning in areas that will go dry in a week...

Pineville just hit 3500... give it a few hours. I'll be shocked if its not 6k.... crazy to think this resulted without any rain... everyone knew how much snow there was up there. I was happy to see the 2100 release this morning. Was gonna pull some rapalas along some undercut banks with my son... now this. Again, i hope all are safe. Luckily it was 2100a at first light so most anglers this morning most likely didnt wade too deep or cross

8k this morning, I hope the damage is minimal. I loved the last trip I took 3 weeks ago and it was running 285 with exposed redds everywhere. Mad props to Brookfield, they really know how to party.

Yep close to 8k and it looks like it has not quite crested yet. Last year we were bit(hing they let out too much this year not enough. C,mon though at least last year it was somewhat out of their hands when it did not rain all summer. It does not take a college ejumukated phd to know snow pack = water and 70 degrees = melting fast. They do know how to party though. How will this affect the spawn (I know there is little natural anyway ;0) ) Will it wash out redds . Will they have a tough time finding gravel.........

You bet that many redds got washed out... there were so many spawning fish set up just before this happened. Now you'll have fish spawning in areas that will go dry once the water recedes. I know many think there is little natural steelhead repro but nothing is for certain until the dec finishes their study ;)
Now, yes; this is not the first time we've seen flows like this in april but i do believe it is completely uncalled for being that there was NO rain event. They are so freeking lucky we didnt get a true soaker yesterday. It wouldve been catastrophic. 8k and possibly still rising??? I'll probably take a ride over later today to check out. I believe once you start getting up near 10k is when it begins coming through the field on the north side of rt. 52... lets hope it crests soon so the few homes in that area dont get washed out...

Not defending anyone but could it be that they lowered the flow last week as a result of complaints from anglers and more likely businesses that make money off anglers. At a time when they had water to flush at 1800 they dropped it to 1250. That I am sure added many anglers and many dollars to the area. Also as Clint pointed out they were hammered last year about the low flows. Now in reality saving water now would only be a PR feel good solution since the res can't hold enough to make a difference if there are no Aug or early Sept rains Then when they saw a forcast that could have made for a major disaster they opened the gates in an attempt to make room for a possisble influx to the res that would happen in several days or a week when the tug trickles had swollen and began really dumping into it. Kind of dammed if you do dammed if you don't. If Dawn's basement doesn't fill with spawners again it would seem as if they played the middle as best they could. Now giggle amongst yourselves and let my bashing begin. Signed The Devil's Advocate

Hey bizzy bob, I actually just took a ride into town and took a few snapshots.... the water is frikking rolling... it actually looks like its gone down about a foot and a half in town.... there must have been a surge from the rain last night. If you're interested to see I can email them to you and maybe you can post them up for me... and then you will see whether there's spawners in her basement or not...lol
