Jack, we have the same brush fire advisory in the Hudson Valley. We need a good soaking rain.

Another soaking rain in the afternoon for a few hours and it is up a few hundred more. There are some pretty serious rains going on towards Ithaca right now. An inch or more by Friday.........

It really has not rained a ton here. Just off and on all day. We got about 1/2 inch or a bit more. Let's see what happens tonight. They bumped it again to 2100. This is what was left for snow at my friends house in Redfield the other day. Some places 5 or 6 inches some a foot. Over on MFF snagger posted a good pic and description of the res. Been reading these posts -seeing the photos and reading the DSR reports on fishing and weather conditions. Looks like Spring is trying to break through but Winter is fighting back lol. Around here grass is growing, buds are budding, birds are chirping and the temps are running into the 60s. We are generally about a week apart.

WNY has had ~1.5" in the last day, and could get another inch, just dodged a flood bullet on most all streams. Combined with the mudline in the lake from a 10,000+ flow in the Genesee hitting the lake, it will be at least the middle of next week before there is any fishing down here, and there will be off color water along shore at least to Sodus probably for the rest of the month. L13, I hope your forecast is off because I have a charter this Sunday out of Shumway. I would hate to make the trip to Rochester if it were to be a waste of time.

Even warmer rain next week... gonna get drier and cold this weekend so the river probably wont go up anymore. Although the river is just about blown out, probably gonna explode next week... 60's-70's with rain forecasted at this point. If it holds true its gonna be a major blow out... snaggers prediction of 5K just may happen next week. April's steelhead season may be coming to an end... there's always may though

I thinking like you Dime. We got about an inch and a half of rain, maybe a bit more, but it was cold. With 70's next week the rest of the snow will go fast with a warm rain. My buddy is riding wheeler up there today so I will get a snow report on Tues. Drop backs in May??????? It's looking good for that. Do you think if the water stays high they will just ride it back to the lake quicker than a lower flow. getting the boat out next weekend for a trip to Oneida on May 7th for waldos. Really have not fished there alot going to try a bit this year

I know Sam Zucco, and he's a good captain and an honest guy. I was down on the Lake yesterday and the entire Rochester Embayment from Lighthouse point out in Parma allt he way to nine mile in Webster, everything visible from Charlotte, was the color of coffee with two creams, maybe 2" of visibility, and 4-6 foot waves. There is a small craft advisory today from the Niagara River all the way to Sackett's Harbor, so even if you could get out past the mudline, it would not be pleasant fishing. I thnk it is time to put away the flashy stuff and tie some hare's ears and muddlers for when the inland stuff finally comes down. Of course, Oatka Creek is over 2000, and fishes well at around 200, and the Cohocton River peaked at about 1200, and is down to 800, but based on the slope of the hydrograph, it will be high for 2-3 weeks. Might have to consider golf, except you would need a canoe for most of the local courses! L13

Yahoo Trevor......some water for the Kings & Coho would be nice,I like around 500-750! Years past I used to come up in late April early May and the lower river was always good for some Steel and some early Smallies. I'm loaded with work around the house, may be Sept. before I break out the 8 wt.

If only we had a way to control and manage the flow of the river so it would be good for all............... If it goes down I will try a bit, but once May hits I have waldo plans on Oneida if everything goes correctly

Might be around more than usual this warm season- If I am reading the new Ct gun law correctly its now a FELONY for me to take the grandkids out back plinking . Even the .22 single shot with sub sonics will land me in jail for over a year on anything but my own property. Probably add some kinda abuse of a minor on top with a kid along. Some of the Hunters are saying the law now prohibits all hunting on land other than your own- dont buy into that one after the dust settles but read it that way too- we will see. One of my Sons offered me his Gillie suit- thinking it might have to be that way--- NY is getting more and more attractive- your new laws dont hold a candle to this mess.

Well I went up today and had a looksy and thought it was running lower and it is. They shut it down to 1650. I cast for 1/2 hour until it started to sprinkle and then left. Never even put my boots on. IMO the wall is pretty fishable at 2k

May be a moot point if the Supreme Court ever gets a left leaning majority. At that point you can put the second amendment on the bottom of the bird cage.

I wont bring it up again on this thread- but please- when you have some time- hop on the putor and look up Ct Bill 1160. It has passed as written and IS the law. As far as many here are concerned-- the 2nd Amendment is already dead.

Ammo ??- I scored a couple of boxes of .22s last week - good stuff. Starting soon we gotta get a State Certificate in order to buy Ammo-Any limits on ammo purchases are still unknown--The Cert is the same thing as the background check to buy a gun -cept it has separate fees attached and is only good for a couple of years.
