Prop question update...

A few months ago I asked some questions about props for my boat, looking for a little better performance. I decided, after a ton of research, to go with trim tabs instead of changing props around. WOW, what a difference! It's like a completely different boat. She'll stay on plane at lower speeds and gets up on plane almost instantly, and we had 5 guys on board Saturday. If you were out there, you know how rough it was and we ran in at 20 mph with no slamming and very little spray. If you're close on your prop and don't know what else to try, go for a set of tabs you won't regret it...

Curiosity killed the cat, but for awhile I was a suspect.

We would have to agree... match the prop as best you can based on boat
specifics, but definitely check the trim tab option.
We put them on our Mako a few years ago and it was definitely money well
spent.  They allow you to make small adjustments to balance out left and right loads (even just the difference made when someone moves around a lot on the boat when under way). And planing at lower speeds and keeping your nose down at high speed is great!

Edit to add word of warning....
I would suggest caution the first time you begin using them after install... it is amazing how quickly they change the way your boat will handle and it takes some getting used to, and some experimenting to see how they can
best benefit you in different situations.

The ones on the transom. I went with 12" x 12" Lenco tabs. The install was easy, well as easy as drilling 2 dozen holes in your transom can be... If you shop around you can get them for around $400.

You might be surprised, they have less expensive "automatic" ones that might be worth a try. Not many things surprise me by how well they work, but these are the best money I've spent on my boat since I bought my troll master a few years ago...

Check the Lenco website... EM said there was quite a bit of info on it for helping match the right tabs to right boats.

If you do some internet searching you should be able to find quite a bit of reference material.
