lund 1650 ss

I have a 16.5 foot lund with 20 hp honda, with gear and two guys 10-11 mph by gps. When I am by myself 16-17 mph. Today dad and I were moving from one spot to another doing 10 mph went over fairly shallow water speed jumped to 15 mph,at first I thought it was a fluke later we did it again just to see and sure enough when you get in 4- 5 foot of water speed increases any ideas?I would like to get the 15 in any water!!!!

Guessing that it has something to do with water compression. When you're in the shallower water you're getting a little extra lift...
