One of Those Days

This evening I had one of those days when nothing went right.  I got out my centerpin reel and float rod and rigged it up with a larger float than I usually use and that was a mistake.  I then decided to use more weight to compensate for the larger float, mistake.  I did not change the old line on my reel and it ended up in a bird's nest.  I striped off the old line and then put on a new float and leader material.  I got back to fishing and hooked up.  Yea, but while I was fighting the fish, the reel came loose and almost fell of the rod.  I worked hard to keep the reel on the rod and I did land the fish, only to find out it was hooked in the tail.   On the way home I stopped by to get gas in my car and the pump I stopped by would not accept my gas card....  I hope tomorrow will be better...

I managed to break my noodle rod when I went up thursday, still dont know how.  It was broke when I pulled it out of my truck.  So, I busted off the splintered parts, jammed the ends together, taped them together with a band aid, and had the best day of my life on Walnut.  So, sometimes, things start out bad but get a lot better.

As they say, Stuff Happens.  Glad to hear you could repair the rod and get to fishing.  I usually take two with me just in case something like that happens.  I have slammed several rods in the car door or broken off a tip.

Don't feel bad Bug.  A bunch of years ago I has a pin drop iin the water on a sub 20 deg. day on a slip ring rod.  I spent a good part of that day with that reel in my waders thawing/drying and my backup on the rod.

maybe you old guys need to start keeping more fish to get those Omega3s...

mine came in colorado on the first day of a 2 week trip...
driving through the mountains with the windows down...
get to my spot... roll up the windows... snapping a 6in section off the tip of my 2wt...
    after 20mins of self loathing...
cut the end down to the next eyelet and had a great trip...

Nothin' beats it when your hands are numb bacause it's FREEZING out and it takes forever to tie on that #20 nymph. When you finally get it tied on , instead of cliiping the tag end, you clip the main line....lol

The other day my buddy came unbuttoned on a fish and his 14'er went into the tree behind him.  He lost the top 4 inches on the tip.

A few years back I had a rod leaning against the back door of my car. The front door was open and I was digging gear out of the trunk.  The wind blew the front door closed, at the same time the rod somehow slid INTO the wind, the rod just made it into the door as it closed completely and broke the rod in two places.  How is it possible that the wind was blowing hard enough to close the door, but the rod still managed to fall into the wind?

I love when its freezing outside and I take 15 minutes to finally tie the knot, hands are numb and red, and then I clip the wrong end.  Or go to pull it tight, and the thing breaks anyway.  Makes you want to go crazy!

It seems we all have those days when things just don't go right....  It is can make you crazy when stupid stuff like that happens.

I once drove over a brand new Ross fly reel.  I had the reel for one week and actually went to Dicks to buy a small tackle box to keep the reel in when I carried it the truck.  I did this because it had fallen out of the truck several times.  Anyway, I bought the box and put it in the truck and said to myself, I will put the reel in the box when I get home.  Well, guess what happened?  Yep, the reel had fallen out of the truck yet again and when I backed out of the parking space, I ran over it.  I felt the bump and jumped out to see what I had run over.  You can only imagine the sick feeling I had in the pit of my stomach.  There was my brand new Evolution....  The good side of the story is that I sent it back to Ross and they were able to fix it for a nominal fee and I am still using the reel today.
