Carp & Cats at Bridgeport Dam

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. I was wondering if anyone here has ever had any luck fishing for carp or catfish at Bridgeport Dam. I've been fishing there for years and have only caught one very small carp and a few small bass...but I still try anyway.

Good to hear that although I don't have a boat so I'm limited to shore fishing. Are you talking about up where there's all those dead trees still standing in the water?

The back lake is definitly better for carp! i see alot of ppl duck hunting it but never see any ducks.  I do well on some real nice size bass in the spring during the prespawn with whole crawlers. Come summertime i dont fish it from shore much because the grass gets real high and i always see a ton of snakes!

Head out 31 and when you go past Lennox, at the bottom of the hill, make a right.  Make the next right when you go over the stream and that is the road to take you back to that second pond.  It is gated but when I go there the gate is usually open.

Oh yeah, tons of copperheads live back there in the swampy, marshy areas around that pond.

Thanks for the info...not sure if I want to risk a copperhead bite though.

    Jug,

Another place you can fish for some nice carp and catties that is not too far from you, is down on the Yough in Smithton. You can try at the old Brewery or down river around the bend from the bridge at the Beach as it is referred.
