Shimano reel and rod, which one?

Shimano reel and rod, which one?

Hi,
I am from Belgium. My husband is a fisher and I promised to give him a present, a reel and rod.
He has the Cabela's Fishing 2011 catalogue.
But it seems that many of the rods and reels are not available in Europe.So I'd like to know, has anyone experience with these reels and rods?

Shimano:
 Trevala butterfly casting rod 5'8 and this reel: Curado E 301E

But he doubts about the length of the rod..isn't it too short (1,73m i guess)?

In the beginning he was interested in the Okuma Concept C3 extra heavy 7'2' and the Serrano 200.
But it was too expensive to ship to Belgium (tax, shipping...)

So, has anyone an idea wheter the Shimano is ok?
He fishes mainly on pike, bream, carp.

    I'd go with a longer rod.Maybe 7 foot.Try to get a 2 piece.Maybe cheaper to ship?Go with a medium action because of the differences in sizes of his quarry.

    Why are you posting on an Erie, Pa forum all the way from Belgium is my question. But try ebay the shipping you can find for global shipping looks cheaper then Cabelas would be

    Check Fish-USA - they have many good combos and some include shipping!

    Thanks for answering.
    I posted my message on this USA forum for the reason that the rod and reel where I am looking for where not available in Belgium.
    I hope we can find a strong rod and reel like I said before, but indeed maybe a bit longer, allthough everyone who has the type I wrote about was satisfied. But I doubt about the length.
