OBX Advice

Hey everyone.

Headed to the outerbanks this june. Will be staying at southern shores. Looking for adivce/recomendations on a charter. Looking for a fly/spinning gear charter. Taking my daughter so comfort, read bathroom facilities, is important. Near shore and inlet/sound fishing. Looking to get some stripers, cobia and a few dolphin, and maybe a king mackeral. Thanks in advance

Here you go trout man, this should get you a bit of info.

If this link doesn't work, do a search of nags head. Someone brought up the topic rather recently.

The main schools of stripers will mostly be in NJ/NY early June, making their way North to MA/ME for the Summer. There will be some resident fish, but think more of a by catch rather than what most target then.

Dolphin, unless there is perfect winds for a week or two, will be out in the gulfstream. If the wind is right, I have heard of stray dolphin being caught from piers. Better chance of cobia or king mack from the piers though. Even better from an inshore charter.

Most charters that hit the gulfstream have pretty large boats with private heads. Only real issue with these, would be sea sickness.

Look up Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. Thats where most of the charters go out of.

OBX Connetion has a good fishing board that lists charter contacts.

Here is another good site for lower OBX fishing reports...

Sad state of affairs down there what the NPS is doing with all the beach closures, not even allowing fisherman to walk on the beaches at all at certain times.... Disgusts me that my tax dollars are paying to prevent people from enjoying our national parks, even with low impact activities like fishing and beach combing.
