100# fluro leads work well for most lures.  still prefer straight 150# wire on jerks and when ripping thou the weeds.  fluro is not necessary in most cases.  now for live baits 50# to 80# fluro makes a difference espiacally in clear waters.

You can certainly use flouro for leaders. I make some for the real clear water lakes that I fish. I go from 80 to 100lb. flouro. I also use the same Sampo components as I do with my wire leaders. NEVER crimped, but either wrapped or tied. As for the flouro, I tie the leader with double strength Palomar knot. Its thick azz stuff, so I use a pair of pliers to sinch the knots down tight. As for length...I go about 36" for my trolling leaders and 12 to 16" casting...Hope this helps....good luck!

I seen a guy once at the a dock that just got done musky fishing as I was going on to the water. Was looking at his rods and seen the leader he was using was BLUE!!! So I asked him what kinda of leader he was using and he told me it was weed eater string. I said yeah right and he was not kidding and showed me the spool of weed eater string LOL that was pretty funny. said it was the smallest eater sting he could find. And worked great and cheap.

Yes it does take all kinds LOL Went to the Fish Education Center the other day to get some musky leader. The guy sold me on the Sea Tamer Co-Polymer salt water line @ 150lb test. It is very strong and fairly flexible. It only cost $22.00 for 300 yard spool and about 28 swivels.Took the swivels apart using the barrel swivel at one end and the snap at the other. Tied up a couple leaders using the trilene knot with 3 wraps. Breaking the leader is quite the challenge. On the first weekend of April he is having a cookout and anybody can show up. I said that the Wiley guy will be their and the guy from Ellwood also. Here is the link for Center www.merchantcircle.com/business/The.Fish.Education.Center.724-452-4464 You can contact him on the Exact date Dave

Yep...to be honest, I'm not a big fan of Howard, but to each his own(developed through years of experiences with the guy is all, no biggie)...I have been, however, going to the spring picnic at his place for years....It was actually started through Muskies Inc. years ago and now he has turned it into an annual event for local muskie fishermen. Alot of good guys. Not sure if Wiley still attends anymore though.
