    Maga,
In my experience, in clearfield county, turkeys here tend to head to fields or in hollows that aren't affected as much by the wind, usually with larges stands of hemlock.  they tend to not move much, but will feed, and move depending on what they are feeding on at the time.  when they hit the fields during rain storms or high wind its a little comical if you can find them. everytime i have they were clustered together in tight little groups, kind of like penguins just swaying back and forth in the wind.  I'm not saying you won't find them in the woods during high winds, because i have found them there on rare occasions, but mainly because the acorns were really falling like crazy.  it just makes more sense for them to head to more open areas though, with their great eye sight, being in the woods while leaves were falling and blowing in a high wind would really have them on edge.

Head for the fields... Or just wait for them in their roost location if you know where that is.  They'll fly down late and up early.
