Five hunters hunting in 5C saw a grand total of 5 deer, no buck and no shots. Thanks a lot Gary Alt for ruining deer hunting for thousands of PA hunters.

there were 5 of us spread out over a fairly large area. I saw 8 deer, all antlerless, and harvested one of those. My fiance's dad, whom I was hunting close to saw 1. The other three guys saw a few deer, and one of them took an antlerless deer. No Buck. Maybe tomorrow.

Hunted tonight from 2:30-3:30 and saw 10 more so on the first day a total of 28 deer. 3 buck and 25 doe. I was walking in and saw 5 and soon after about 3 a doe come running up the hill breathing real hard i pulled up about to click safety off she looks back and a small 5 point was standing there couldnt get a shot at him.(still junior hunter) So about 15 minutes later a doe comes walking up to me and would not leave for anything kept on walking up snorting got about 10 yards i said to myself she goes into another opening im shooting. A minute later a shot from the 300 win mag and 1 dead doe :)

saw 8. missed a coyote. all before 10am left the woods around then too. most likely could have harvested a doe, she was 20 yards. the coyote was 90. since i knew it was going to rain so much i did not want to skin and cut up a deer tomorrow. most likely wasnt going to shoot a doe today anyway, i'll wait til the second week, or if not, maybe after.

Very little shooting in my area. i recalled the shooting died off around 9am. Took a ride in my truck to see where the "hot spot" and to see if ppl were hunting my other properties but noticed if and where hunters were, it was a group ranging from 3-10. Other places had no one or atleast no one visible parked from the road. i remember years past, cars would just be everywhere. Did see a guy pulling out a nicer 8pt and saw 2 guys with Does in the truck beds.
    was relaxing for me really.

I have a cadet assigned with me but the first couple hours of the first morning are pretty slow patrolling with all the hunters in the woods, so we decided to hunt the first two hours.

We hunted on the game lands. He saw 8 deer before 0900 but couldn’t tell what any of them were due to being in the thick brush. I saw 6 deer total; 4 were does and one that I think was a small buck from my stand and then one shooter buck after I was out of my stand and on the way out to where I had my bike hidden). I heard 182 shots before 09:00.

Throughout the day we checked a number of deer and some really great bucks. We checked a number of junior hunters with deer and most hunters reported having seen a fair number of deer.

Saw deer today for the first time in the last 4 years of opening day. 12 doe and 2 -6points. Since deer have been put on the rare and endangered list, it was more fun just to watch them. Never even pulled the hammer back on my flintlock. Unlike the last few years, I guess I went deeper in the woods this year and was rewarded with the rare sighting of deer .Hunted in 4A where does are legal and didnt hear 100 shots all day long.I guess as I get older I can't hear as well as some other people can.19 hunters in camp and a lone buck harvested. They could have taken some doe but didn't.Will try again tommorow, I am on a lucky streak.....WF

Saw total of 23 deer. Bucks 3 shooters, 1 6 point,2 scrubs,17 does. At first light a big buck stood on the ridge of a hill and could see the outline of the big body and racked buck. Just to early and unsafe shot so he walked, the other 2 shooters never gave up a clean shot. Does they were running everywhere was crazy from the first couple hours, but only a few gave up shots none taken tho waiting for a buck. rest of the day a few does at a time ran by at full speed. AS far as hearing shots being taken I heard about average that would in the 100's I really did not count but heard shots all day. One shot I heard was very early!! Not sure how they were able to see? Well off I go this rain will be FUN LOL BESAFEANDGOODLUCK Dave

50 antlerless sightings. 10 bucks. 5 PA-legal. 2 shooters.  One of them was missed by my buddy.
A junior hunter scored on a young 8 point.
A 125"-ish 9pt and a small buck harvested on the neighboring property.
A friend of mine down the road had 73 antlerless sightings along with 12 bucks.  A few legal but no shooters.
    1 'yote missed.
    Shots?  WWIII till about lunchtime.

I hear ya, when I heard that first shot I first checked my watch, then held up my gun. My whole front site was just a black blob, I couldn't even make out the white dot at all. How some people consider that shooting light I'm not sure.

I heard two far away shots around 6:30 yesterday morning. Something tells me someone was hunting with their headlights on.

I saw 3 does, harvested the biggest one, and had it skinned by 10am. Went out this morning, got soaked from head to toe by 8:30 am, then decided to spend the rest of the day working .
