And,then It Happend

I got home from work at 5:15,is it too late to hunt? My wife said dinner almost ready?I'm talking to my son (Bullifter on the phone)he tells me you can't get them if you don't go.I make up my mind, and I'm going.I leave,no time to change,no boots,no camo, put on my black sweat shirt, grab orange hat and vest, jump on my quad and roll.I park the bike and start walking to my ground blind, the phone rings(time 5:55)very quick call,I'm in the blind at 5:56,at 6:10 two button bucks show up,one walks within 10 yards,I watching them for at least 30 min.,there body actions changed from feeding to alert. Then they both leave pronto,I"m looking hard in the direction they where looking, then I see what's been making all the scraps the last week on so.He walks in fast, goes to as scape at 25 yards, opens it,rakes him big heavy rack in a low hanging branch, grabs a licking branch and snaps it,and he's coming quick at less than 15 yard it now or never he's walking and to close for me to stop him, quartering to me,I let it fly the 3 blade Rage makes that rib cracking sound, but the angle going to take out the liver too.The deer runs to about 35 yards from my blind and stops, tail tucked and head down, and just stands there for what (seemed like for ever) them he starts to get woosy,he's going down, but no he's a big old vet, with a strong will to live,he does a 180 turn and walks into the thicket and out of site.I think I hear him go down and make the death grown. It' 6;40 and reality sets in I'm a shaking basket case,I'm never get the skakes till after I kill a deer(big buck)Time 6:45,call my son and tell him I'm pretty sure I'm just killed my best bow buck.I sit in the blind till 7:15,he'gets there,he finds first blood and I walk to the last place I saw him,I shine the light the way he walked in the thick stuff and see white rump,he's down,it's over, a beautiful mature 8 pt.I'm sure my son will post the pic's. I may owe this buck to my son for getting me in the woods, you never know when it's going "TO HAPPEND"

Sometimes it doesn't take very long

I had a similar thing happen once. I was pizzed at the wife for loading me up with projects on a Saturday, got her stuff done and flew to my stand. First thing I always do when I get in the stand is clear my throat real good before I settle in. So I clear my throat and this buck grunts back, runs in and stops at 30 yards. I shoot he runs about 70 yards to a road and dies right beside the road. I gut him, toss him in the truck and I'm back home within 30 minutes of leaving . Only bad thing was the wife says "see those projects didn't hurt anything"

Anyway, congrats Tuna, can't wait to see the pics

Well,I scaled him,and skin and caped him out today. 175 lbs,18 1/4 outside spread, inside 16 1/2. Took him to my Taxi and he loved the way he looks and can't wait to get creative with him, still has the sleaker looking fur.I'm not sure what I want him to do? But if anyone got any idea's on what type of mount, I'm open to suggestions.
