Okuma SLV Fly Rods

Anyone have any thoughts on these rods? I was thinking of upgrading my setup.... right now it's a sceintific angler reel and a eagle claw 6-7 weight..... stupid fish pics with rods thread has made me start seriously thinking about it..... I was thinking of pairing it with a pfluger trion. I can't help it, I love the looks of that reel! Thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jacob

jacob, i was at the cabela's in w.v. in january and looked at one. the guys in the fly shop said that they incorporate the same drag system that is in the orvis mid arbor. i know one guy here who has used one for a long time and he says it is a good reel. nice looking, too.

btw, sorry about starting that thread. it cost me money too, much to the chagrin of my wife. i just love shopping for ME.

bughawk gave some sage advice on another thread. buy what you can afford and enjoy it. from top shelf to bottom, they are all fun.

If it does indeed have the drag from the Battenkill Mid-Arbor, that's a good drag, certainly capable of putting the brakes on a steelie. Just don't give it a dunk-bath in sub-freezing temps or you'll have a $120 paperweight till you get it busted free or thawed out.
