Small rivet leak in an old aluminum boat- Im researching different products & reading lots of different things.  Any thoughts on silicone, JBWeld or any other sealants?  thanks

JB weld is the easiest and it will last. There is a "brazing" type rod that you use a blowtorch with, never tried it tho. Have an aluminum with 3 year old jb fixes that still don't leak.

I have used it on other aluminum repairs with great success.

    Harbor Freight also sells it.

Drillout the rivit put a ss trusshead machine screw with nylon washer on outside and a ss steel washer inside, put nylon lock nut (dab of 3m 5200 on screw.

We generally use the JB weld if needed and have had good luck with it...
if you use the brazing rod, be careful... in the process of heating the rivet you can bake the sealant out of the joint and cause another leak.

If it were myself, i would drill the leaky rivit out. Clean the crap out of the hole and the surrounding area, (inside the boat if you can also) Definintly the outside. Buy Life Caulk, it is marine caulking used by OEM to mount motors around the bolts. Get blind marine rivits, goober the caulking on the rivet, pop the rivit in the old rivit hole and set off the rivit. Give the caulking a day to dry. If done correct it will not leak.
