i used to keep tight drag well after a few steels break off it tends to change your mind at around 20 bucks a break ill let the drag take over not to mention if your fishing over a dump or come shallow then you have a chance of loosing the whole rod and reel loose drag for me and ill keep my rods and seagar or p line for leader floro and i have all rods strung with power pro 20# or 30# the bad thing that happens to the line if they rub say by by to lures happend 2times this year alone people sometimes do not place the rod in the right holder

Tight drag meaning....a walleye can't pull it out guys....c'mon, I've been doing this for enough years to know that there are fish out there that can break rigs! Geeze. I have NEVER broken off due to any fish strike or big fish....especially due to the drag being set too tight. Have had break offs due to possible frays or knicks in line or hitting/snagging bottom with the dipsy....thats it.
