Ideal Winds

What are the ideal wind direction for shore fishing? I believe it is a south or easterly wind. West and North winds kick up the waves pretty good. Am I correct?

I know nothing about shore fishing, but speaking from a boaters perspective yes you are correct that west and north winds will typically kick the lake up near shore more so than east or south winds.

South to south west is best! if not your getting slammed into the chest and jumping over them.
