smallmouth fishing

i am from ny and i will be coming to fish lake erie the first weekend in september. im gonna going after the smallmouth in the lake because ive heard so much about these lake erie smallies. i will have a boat and knowing how big the lake is i dont wanna go in blind. ive been doing some research on the internet and have some idea of possibly where to go. I was wondering if anyone who fishes it quite often can possibly steer me in some kind of direction. thank you

Check the latest issue of Pa fish & Game magazine. They have a good article. Won't get much help here, guys are tight lipped to outsiders sometimes.

smallie fishing is good antwhere along lake erie.  pick ant launch and srat looking for ant type ob structure ie rock hump, old wreck, a ledge as little as 1 ft, bottom transition, etc.  move around and you will find fish.  they will be fairly deep, 30 - 60 ft in summer

a bartender told me that you start with your boat pointing towards canada. Go out to 20 feet of water and start jigging soft plastics. If you don't catch any, move out to 25' and keep jigging. He said to do this untill you find the depth the fish are at. He said it wouldn't take long and once you find them, there are lots of them.

I dont have a boat for erie and never got to try it, but it sounds reasonable to me.

Definately focus on any change in bottom structure you can find. Hopefully you have a good fish finder.

"A Homewood man led police on an hourlong car chase that ended with a crash injuring three officers.

"The car was driving itself," Wright said. "The car has a GPS. It's a Lincoln Navigator. They drive themselves. I wasn't running nowhere."

I am not sure that anyone mentioned this, but how big a boat do you have? A few posts ago we were discussing how quickly it can kick up. Many of us have watched it go from glass to 6 footers in an hours time. Watch the weather, not just on TV.
