I only run it dry at the end of the season. (with Stabile in the tank)
Rest of the summer, I just shut the motor down when I come to dock, I don't run it dry everytime.
I do unhook the fuel line between trips though.
YMMV, that's just how I roll.

Don't know if it matters but I run mine out every time when I'm done. My motor is a 1947 and I've done this ever since I've had it.(20+ yrs.)

Running a 2 stroke out of fuel will cause motor damage! BAD NEWS

I put in stabile on my last trip of the year make sure to run the motor enough to get it in the motor, then shut it off. Next season i have never had a problem with starting it up, normally it starts just as easy as it would mid season. Done with on the 6 different two stroke motor i have owned and never a problem.

    Pork, why disconnect fuel line?

I usually leave the carbs wet...
I do unhook the fuel line...only because I had a float stick once and after the sun beat on the boat all day, the fuel tank built up pressure and pushed a few gallons of fuel out and filled the motor cowl and splash well with 2-cycle mix!!!

    ^ yep, what Mako said.
My fuel tank builds tons of pressure from heat & while I've never had it happen, I didn't want to risk it.
I even unscrew the cap a couple times a day while fishing in the heat to release the pressure.

I just disconnect the fuel line. If I'm going to transport in a vehicle I will remove the drain screw on carb and drain fuel. Running a 2 stroke out of fuel every time causes the motor to run lean and over-rev. Not the best idea.
