Pros and Cons of Sinking lines vs Floating

Hey Guys! Im interested in throwing a sinking line, for both steelhead and trout etc, but I dont really know anything about sinking lines, hence the pros and cons topic . i mostly nymph fish, well over 90% of the time. i was just curious as to what the limitations where with the sinking line, can you use an indicator, if so what kind would i have to use, etc. Any info would be helpful

Stick with the floater for Erie unless your fishing deep streamers or wets on a tight line. Not too many places in Erie where it's deep enough to use a full sink line.
No indie fishing with a sinking line.
NY and OH and Erie shoreline would be the place for a sink-tip line.
Or a shooting line with head for the lake.

I agree with Dano. Stick to a weight forward line in the Erie Tribs.
You can always add a sink tip leader if you want to swing streamers, I do.
