i think we'de take them in the clarion for smallies and trout, us top water.

you see they fish tandem rigs, that's 2 flies to one top water fly, now who has the advantage?
it's late in the year when most hatches are over with.

the little j sounds good. i'lll see what i'm doing july 4th or the following weekend. if the little j's the water i'll take thedrake. i think he lives down that way

Count me in. Where is this so called "little j" anyway.

What weight of rod would be good?

Ahem, he said TROUT.

The Little J runs behind the Pottery Barn.

How's that for a two-for-one shot?

Judge Smails: Ty, what did you shoot today?
Ty Webb: Oh, Judge, I don't keep score.
Judge Smails: Then how do you measure yourself with other golfers?
Ty Webb: By height.

By the time I get back from next week's trip, I will have little interest in 10 inch fish until next spring.

Although, if it were duirng a Trico hatch on Spring, I might be game.  You up to partner?  Maybe we add flyfishingdave to our dryfly team ad well.

I propose fishing on two different creeks, the little j, and another nearby spring creek that nobody fishes, which I won't name over the internet. The little j is taylored for nymphing, and the other is a little better for dries. This will level the playing field.

The other creek is full of wild browns, there's not a stocker in the entire creek. If you want a challenge this is a good one.

Also, this is where I should disclose that I am a guide on the little j.

i should be ok for the third of july. not sure what i'm doing the 4th.
if you nymphers are using tandem rigs i guess we can use two up. also i hear and seen quite a few trout snagged on a tandem rig, a lot more than on a dry, so you nymphers could subtract 2 fish for each snagger

Man, I wish I could get in on this.  The J in july, from Tyrone to Spruce Creek.  2d stream:  TBA  ( plenty of major Browns, not stocked, won't post name)  Close to the J; could it be the other branch of the J?

How are the underwater guys supposed to cast? I've tried it, and even a 4wt has way too much drag. Plus I can't find a chest pack, with a SCUBA pocket.

Slow down your casting stroke. Open your loops a bit. Haul slightly more than you normally would in the air.

All the branches in these parts run into one of the J's eventually. If its the one I'm thinkin', the on top guys will have a good time. 270-he-bang won't do too well there.

Good luck gettin' married drake !
