Trophy pro cc w/ merc saltwtr 200hp

Looking into buying a trophy pro cc 21 ft w/ 200 hp merc salt water series.  My question is will the motor be able to kick down to walleye trolling speed ?  If not what do I need to do other than purchase a kicker ?

Buy trolling Bags. My boat is 210 horsepower 22' glass and some days I need 2 28" bags some days 1 28" and some days I run my 18" bags. Depends on wind , trolling direction and if you have a hard top that will push even more.

No, you probably will not be able to get her under 2.5-3 mph. I have the same motor except a 115 HP on my Monark, and I couldn't get below 2.5 unless I was trolling into the waves (which my autopilot didn't like). I ended up getting a kicker, but used trolling bags before that. I recommend Amish Outfitters trolling bags www.Amishoutfitters.com.

I'm with King and Bogey... we run a 21'10" Mako CC, with a Merc 175 and can only get it down to about 2.3 under ideal wind/current conditions, and if our bimini is up forget it! Trolling bags or even 5 gallon buckets for drag will bring your speed down but then remember you'll have to work around them if you are bringing in a fish...
you have a couple of options depending on how many batteries you carry and how good your charging system is... they make electric trolling motors that direct mount to your lower unit or trim tabs but you need at least a 24volt system and more likely a 36 volt set up to make them work and you would have to be able to recharge on the water... they also have transom mount electric trolling motors that would work but again, you need to go big. We have an 81lb thrust one we use sometime, it will easily push our boat but drains batteries very quick and wouldn't last long if you are trying to go against wind/current... they make bigger ones that might work but you are getting into a lot of money and battery weight. And if you can't 'plug in' your boat at home you will need to constantly be taking batteries in and out of the boat... (I just bought my guy 2 multibank charging systems, one for each of our bigger boats, for Christmas and his birthday, because of this very problem!)
For trolling motors, you can set up anything from a 7.5 to a 15 hp and get the job done. We use a 9.9 evinrude tiller for our pusher and love the set up. We have it on a bracket that allows us to lower it or bring it up out of the water depending on what we need. It pushes at up to 5 mph so it actually gives us a little peace of mind that if anything happens to the big motor when we're out in deep water we can get back in... and we set it up that it pulls off of our onboard fuel tank so no extra tank cluttering the deck.
    Good luck and have fun...

My 23' walk around has a 200 horse IO and will idle right down where it needs to be, but I love my kicker. You can't hear it running, it sips fuel, and with the troll master control speed can be adjusted by tenths of a mile per hour. Another suggestion would be one of those trolling plates that drop down behind the prop.

Trolling plates are hell on steering on MOST boats. If you run your ropes properly and tie off the bags to the mid cleat they will pull under the boat like you want them to and will only be out on the side during turns which in no way gets in the way of the chute for netting feesh.
