Not alot of trout in the area of the picnic. Wet is the only way to go. Now the channelcats are biting well. Saw a guy this weekend land at least 2 Sat. and 6 or 7 today , swinging and stripping 4-5 inch white streamers....WF

the river is warm. i've been wet wading so there is no problem. there are lots of areas to fish along the river. the place we are having the picnic is a great place for the river floaters to stop, dock the float and have some eats.
i still figure on eating about 2:30-3:00. this way the ones who have a rental will still be able to get the canoe back by 6:00.
if you all want to change the eats time that's fine by me.
we should have enough vehicles around to get those who come down the river need a way back to their put in point.
i plan on setting up around 8:00am saturday.
looks like it will be a good overcast day.

i got a primitive campsite set up next to the clarion river on belltown/river road. got room for about 5 more tents. near a spring and newly built pit toilet facilities in the ANF. good place to launch a canoe, kayak or float tube or just hanging out in the river.
i'll be there friday, figure around 6:00, all are welcome to come over and enjoy camplife.
if you are interested in camping with us let me know. ~dt

to camp sight,
from rte 36 turn north on rte899. as soon as you cross the clarion river turn rt. at the sign that points to clarington. thru first stop sign and continue on belltown/river rd. (the river will be on your rt.) follow this about 4.5 miles, you'll cross over millstone cr. and come to a stop sign. turn rt. 3rd campsite on the left pass the privy. campsight #10. look for this fly guy

i'll have him at the party sight watching the canopies on saturday so all can see where the get together is. this way anyone can leave food on the table or in my van before they take off for water sports.

so no one is confused. the picnic directions are on the first page. it is a mile on river road from rt. 36 at the bridge before macbeth's if you are going east.

i am camping off belltown/river road about 14 miles upriver from the picnic area in the ANF. easiest way to get there is to continue on rte 36south to rte' 899. than follow above directions. i'll be camping there friday, saturday and sunday. there are still a few more tent sites on location. great place to put in/out watercraft and tubing or swimming.

i updated the food list. looks like donny and hans had walleye left over

donny, it's suppose to be 80+ degrees friday, saturday and sunday. the bikini hatch should be in full swing
, fish in all sizes catch and release
you shouldn't of got a charter for sunday, you may not want to leave!
we're camping in the ANF alcohol permitted!
i should have an ample supply of imported hand rolled ceegars!!

andy & donny, it's ok to bring the dogs if you can keep them calm. i'm sure they'll love the water also. they have to be on a leesh in the park for the picnic, park rules.

andy, there's room for tents.
went down to the river yesterday. caught a couple on a blue murray popper and missed a couple. bird up caught a smallie on a brown bugger and missed a couple on a slider.
the water's warm and the fish aren't overly active so we found letting the poppers drift longer works better. ~dt

From my experience fishing this time of year is early morning and late afternoon. The trout are so
temperature stressed in the Clarion this time of year that I don't fish for them. If you catch them
you might as well keep them. Watched a fella hooking one after another a couple years ago. They were
all released and were rolling down stream on the bottom. I worked to revive them and may have helped couple
of them. I wasn't prepared to cook them and had no ice or I would have eaten some.
