Hey, keep 'em comin' bro. I like to see whats comin' outta the mon. Since most of us arent gonna keep em anyway, aint nothing wrong with a 37"+ fish of any species in my book.

Was out a couple of nights recently. Took a short break from the cattin' to do a little weedbed castin' & sucker floatin'. No dice, just a mid twenty sum inch channel on a 10" sucker.

Out of curiosity what is the biggest anyone has ever caught out of the mon? On another topic do you guys catch any trolling or is it all casting in the river? If so any tips on trolling such as how much line to put out and a general speed? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

ranger..this fish was caught trolling.. dont know what the biggest is seen pics of a 54" caught in mon river.. i actually catch most of mine trolling, there is a time for each presentation just need to know how to determine when to cast or troll.. instance water is warm they seem to come shallow in early mornings and evenings when water is cooling i usually cast at those times or when u know they are using the weeds. this morning i casted 3 hrs didnt move a single fish other than a bass, so i started to troll and picked this one up. water is warm i usually troll between 5 & 6 mph this one was caught at 6mph. falln time im pretty much in full time trolling mode they will be on the move looking for food to build up fat for winter. hope maybe that helps. my biggest out of mon is 48.5in i have several 48s one that i got end of june is posted on another thread. lots of good mid 40s fish around and im positive theres some 50s lurking around as well.

Thanks mm for all the info been doin well casting can not get a bite trolling but was trolling at 3.5 to 4 maybe speed things up will help. I have been using 20 to 40 feet of line out does that sound at least like I am in the ballpark?

depends on the lure ur using.. u need to find out how deep ur lures run. go to a area where water is like 7 ft deep . keep letting line out till u bump bottom then u know how much line u need to run at that depth, repeat with other lures. if want to know how much line gets u 10ft down then repeat process in 10ft water. i usually look for balls of baitfish and see what depth they are at , then i run my lures at that depth. generally im allways trying to run one at 7ft down other at 10ft down then if u get a strike or a fish set ur lures at the depth of the one that got action.
