White or dyed arctic fox, online. About $18 for a whole tail, 4-$5 for a cross section piece.

looking more for red fox... is there much difference in the fur? Found them for about $5 for a red fox tail. But the website was unclear as to if it was the entire tail or not.

I have never tied with red fox, so can't give an opinion. For $5 it would be worth a try, might be just what you want. I tie just for sthd and arctic fox is a very good, soft, fine hair with lots of breathing action. Perhaps swinger has tied with, can help you regarding red fox.

Canadian tube fly co. has red fox, 2"X3" body pieces for $4.95, tail pieces for $5.95. Can't find it on any of my favorite USA tying material sites.

They are in Idaho and sell all kinds of fur, tails, etc. You can usually pick up a whole fox tail for less than $10. However the selection may vary and be limited at times. Also they don't come in many different colors. I usually buy white ones and dye them myself.
Otherwise most fly shops that cater to the spey fly fisherman sell fox fur in different colors.
