My family has run a pay lake for over 40 years and we get our water the same place everyone else does-clouds. Rain comes down and fills the springs and then flows to the creeks and lakes and then to the rivers and then to the oceans and gulfs. You are actually fishing the same water we are fishing. And over the years the "dirtbags" that have fished our lakes have been miners, steelworkers, teachers, contractors, factory workers and so on and have fought and died in the military. These are the people who keep this country going and we appreciate every one!!! We also have a large number of handicapped customers who do not have the physical capabilities that the rest of us have. If these people are "dirtbags" then I DO NOT mind spending time with these "dirtbags"!!! Sorry you feel the way you do.

look guys my opinion is my opinion. I think its wrong to catch fish out of thier
natural evironment and stock them in a small pond for people to catch.
thats not what fishing is about. Its no wonder PETA wants fishing banned. The paylakes give fishing a bad name is all.

Listen einstein!!!!!
Steelhead do NOT grow and live in lake erie....once upon a time steelhead were put in the lake...there for a put and take fishery...do your homework before runnin your mouth..All the lakes, rivers, and Most streams, not all some hold native trout... are stocked at one time or another!!!! ps. the steelhead are put in every year by state and other groups...
Most of us dirtbags fish every where,I go to new york for salmon every year,
I fish paylakes for the money, bring yours and i'll take it!!!!!

ps. ps. Thank you Jimmy..

Nothing wrong with paylakes, they're a business that provides a service to their customers just like any other business.  One of the main draws for paylakers is the competition aspects of things.  Stocking the fish in ponds makes things more manageable and convenient and keeps things on somewhat of a more even playing field for the competitions.  I used to fish the carp contests a good bit in the past, but not so often in recent years.  It's always fun to fish the contests and try to win a little dough.

erie steelhead are all stocked as smolts. very few steelhead are reproduse. if it wasnt for the fish commision STOCKING them ,the steelhead would of been gone years ago. and those creeks you fish for trout and state lake , ALL STOCKED. just like the paylakes. most of the guys that dont like paylakes are the ones sitten there playing with their puds while the guys next to them are rippen fish. the next thing he is going to say is he saw the owner feeding the fish dog food.

oh please............................
I think I'm aware of where steelhead come from.
That is'nt the point paylakes/erie steelhead have NOTHING in common.
I could not possibly care any less about where you guys fish erie/new york(like its a big deal or sumthin')or paylakes.
Its about confidence and the ability to find fish.
lets just get over it and move on. I think paylakes are unethical and you guys don't.
no big deal

It's not hard to find the fish all u have to do is look for a body of water and you will find fish. The fact of the matter is that you were wrong for opening your mouth. You got put in your place and all you had to do was to keep your mouth shut in the first place.

Wow, this is worse than online game chat. Where is this Seghi's place? How big are the ponds? What types of fish are in them? I didn't realize pay lakes were competition grounds too. I may hafta check it out. I always thought they were just pay pools like the kind sportsmen clubs have. I'd have to see the size of the ponds to judge, but I've always thought of pay lake fishing as comparable to me baiting a trout hook with crawler bits and dropping it in my fish tank. I'm sure my little bull heads for go for it. Eventually they'll be big enough to put in a pond, and I'm sure they'll go for it then too.

I'd rather be fishin...

Check out this old thread and ya can see a flier about Seghi's with more info.:
http://forums.fishusa.com/m_90346/mpage_1/key_seghis/tm.htm#173621

If you're interested in more info. on the paylakes in SW PA, I wrote an article on them a few years back for the NACA(North American Carp Angler) publication that was an overview of the PA pay ponds.-----I used to be able to post a link directly to the article, but the link no longer works.  I could post up my article directly here on this section of the forum if ya wanna know more the competition aspect of thing at the paylakes, especially carpwise.

Nice try,but do you think any of the money grubbing, puddle fishing wanna bee catters actually give a sh*t where the half starved pathetic excuses for catfish they catch come from.Guess ya gotta go somewhere if you can,t cut it on the real rivers.Paylakes are like the Playstations of the fishing world.Personally,i,m glad they go there, keeps them out of my way.
