Here is a link for info about the Oil Creek State Park:
http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/Parks/oilcreek.aspx

I will reserve a pavilion for us next week.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but there are electric
outlets for use.

It appears that Sunday, May 16th is obviously the most popular date to have the outing, so let's go with it. Most usually fish in the morning, then we meet around noon at one of the pavilions beside the creek, once you travel over the steel bridge at Petroleum Center. (Oil Creek State Park)

It time for a roll call of those planning on attending and what you can bring (food, plates, etc.) to the picnic Sunday, May 16th. I will update this list daily.

1) beerman - pop + water
2) Mikastorm - hamburgerssssssssss
3) tank7791 - chips
4) Loopy - brownies
5) indisquiz - teriaki marinated, thinly sliced, flank steak and some kaiser rolls
6) bulldog1 - jalapeno potato caserole
7) Mr. Slickfish - antipasto salad
8) BloodyHand - veggie tray
9) 6point7 - meat + cheese tray
10) deetz4352 - smoked steelhead
11) rippinlip - cookies
12) cold - plates, napkins, utensils, etc.
13) doubletaper - lilsmokies in BQ sauce
14) skip16503 - shrimp on the barbie
15) rapala11 - macaroni salad or potatoe salad
16) Dallas - baked beans

Anyone know if Oil is open yet? Kind of off topic but some pre-outing scouting would be fun.

Yes, here is a link to streams in PA open for trout fishing year round.
Scroll down to Venango County for Oil Creek regulations.
Hope this helps ya!

Today, I called to reserve a pavillion at the park. I was informed that to reserve the large pavillion,(the same one we have used in previous years), there is now a $64 daily fee. All the other smaller pavillions are free and on a first come, first use
basis. Both the large and small pavillions have grills, but only the large one has an electric hook-up. IMO I think we should take a chance and hope that somebody else doesn't reserve the large pavillion that day, then there would be no charge I'm told. If we do this I will call on Friday, May 14th to check to see if the large pavillion is not reserved. Anybody else have an opinion about what to do?

$2 to a paypal fund wouldn't be too much to ask would it? I can find that much in the couch in our living room? It may be less depending on who is going.

That sounds good to me Greg. We never really see many other people at those other pavillions.

Somebody else can take care of the pavillion if you all want to "rent" one.
As stated above, I think we should take a chance that nobody else will reserve the big pavillion.
If somebody does reserve it, we can always use a smaller pavillion. Remember the small ones are closer to the bend upstream.

The lady at the park suggested I call her the Friday before on the 14th,
to see if it is reserved. I will do that if needed.

Aren't a few duuds camping in the area the night b4? Someone should be able to get up and and snatch that thing....heck, you could probably get one to pass out there.

I don't always snag fish, but when I do...
I choose Little Cleos
