PCF pressing forward for opportunity
Alot of issues to be discussed at the current meeting which started today. Thought some of you would like to see what one organization presented today during public testimony. This is from the Pennsylvania Crossbow Federation homepage.
"The PCF has just finished presenting testimony in front of the PGC board of commissioners at the January meeting. We have remained very active monitoring the first fall archery season with full inclusion of the crossbow, and at the same time working with the PGC and fellow archers to pursue additional opportunities. The full testimony can be viewed at
www.pacrossbow.com under the PCF Reports link on the front page. Some of the highlights are as follows.
The PCF has asked the BOC to consider a significant expansion to the length of the archery bear season and also allow the harvest of bears on a statewide level.
Opportunity within the special regulations areas was also addressed. Flintlock hunters in the special regulations areas just completed their first season with an additional two weeks to pursue antlered and antlerless deer. We have asked the BOC to consider extending the late archery seasons within the SRA as well. This extension would streamline the regulations with all of the deer seasons closing on the same date and allow archers to pursue their quarry till the close of the antlerless firearms season. We have been in discussions with the commissioners about this proposal.
We are also hopeful that the BOC will grant final adoption of the regulatory change to small game seasons that will allow full inclusion of the crossbow into those seasons. The PCF has been in contact with the commissioners to ensure that this does pass.
Again, our full testimony is posted on our website. We would like to thank our members for their continued support and those that have been supportive of our organization. Hopefully additional opportunities for all archers will be present this fall for everyones enjoyment. The PCF."
