i use all mouth calls. use open reed cause the others will freeze up. i use a 223 now but am getten a 243 after xmas. forget the name of the decoy but it is a plastic ball on a stick with a rabbit looking thing on the top that flops back and forth. the mane thing is the wind. they will circle down wind every time. see which way the wind is blowing and put a guy 60 yds or so down wind. even if you cant see your partner, make sure some one is down wind from the caller. no lights. some say the coyote can see the red lite. me and 2 friends are going tonite.

I put two deer rib cages and hides and bones, from my doe's in the woods behind my house,it looks like quite a few yotes are working them,I wish I would have know sooner,I'd would have set up on them, but Xmas is keeping me busy,I hope to get a crack at them later,I hope it gets really gets sub zero again,I've found that make hunting better.

good luck. coyotes are tough. watch your wind. they will circle down wind every time. they may be there and get down wind from you and be gone and you never knew it. i have set up more than once to see nothing until walking back out and have fresh tracks cross rite over my tracks. 60 or so yards from where i was set up from and never knew they where there. they will do this every time. spray out alittle cover scent. like some coyote urine or something amelly for trapping. it may help. always have a buddy down wind 50 to 70 yards. even if you cant see him.

I need lessons, these coytotes are TOUGH,called 75 yards from my chum line, yesterday eve,and this morning, now they stopped coming, found tracks down wind about 100yard away.took a big quad ride and found 4 or 5 set of tracks about 1/2 mile away. I'm about ready to start muzzle loader hunting, saw 10 doe's while calling yotes,4 today where maybe 40yards away, yote hunting makes deer hunting really look easy.If anyone kills yotes with was regularity, please tell me your tips,Ive killed one 42 lb male and that was a freak deal, grouse hunting with a 20 g and 7 1/2 high brass, start tracking a yote into a blow down and he had one way out,ran staight at me 30 yard shot(in the face)track him about 50 yards, and found him dead in a blow down.Pa. hardest trophy Mr.Coyote, one smart varmit. ANY HELP? I'm all ears.

Went out last night right after dark, was equipt with some brand new snow camo sprayed down with scent killer, New mojo critter decoy, And some new electronic and mouth calls. walking to the spot heard some barking and howling about 300 yards away down in the bottom that got the blood pumpin pretty good. Got to the spot and put out a mojo critter and another motion decoy. the reason for 2 decoys is that the spot i was hunting was an L shaped field so i put one decoy on each side so the critters would be able to see it no matter wich way they came from. Got all set up and started callin. Started off with some barking and howling and one of the coyotes responded. This time of year i howl because its right before bredding season and the male yotes dont like the thought of another male getn to their women. so after he responded i howled again, and he was right back at me w. a howl. This time he was quite a bit closer, got the video camera all ready and turned in the direction i think hes gonna come out, 5 minutes go by and nothing, so i decide to do some distress calling within 5 minutes i see him pop his head up and out of the woods looking for either another yote, or a dieing rabbit. He put his head back down and i turned the camera on him, barked a couple times to tryn get him to put his head back up and he darted into the woods that was the last i saw of him. These things are tough im not sure if he caught my movement or just didnt like the decoy, or mayb he was lookin for another yote i have no clue, these things are the smartest freakn things, im not givin up though im killin one this weekend

i only hunted them twise and no responce. i trapped 1 big male. im going out to hunt in the morning. i was out checking beaver traps this morning. i was on top a big hill over looking a big field down in a valley and there stood 2 yotes. never ran very fast then another 1 joined. i would of had a perfect shot standing still bout 2oo yards. i knew they where in the area but havent been taking my rifle. i will be there at daylite. i usually wait till the big mosquito creek contest comes up in feb. im gonna be putting some more traps out this week.

they are gonna be going in to breeding soon. when calling use some greeting and challenge hows. the males wont be after the rabbit calls as much. there are not looking for food. like buck in rut.

BUSTED YET AGAIN! good grief are these some smart critters went out this morning just getting to where i could see and i let out some howls, had a yote answer seemed like it was about 150 yards away so i howled one more time and put the call down and started looking wasnt seeing anything then i looked to my right there he is 25 yards away stareing at me i swear i no longer blinked and he was gone. I will have a yote dead not giving up till ones on the ground. akita have you been doing any hunting?

akita hunted from 530-1215 tonight and had tons of action! but yet again there are no dead yotes in the truck. first stand sitting there howling and nothn so stop calln and my buddy and i are talking and a pack of em just starts blowing up about 100 yards away, so i start howling back and they keep answering. they are getting closer and closer. nxt thing yah know all i hear is sirons.. house down the road caught on fire and the ambulance and fire truck just happen to be coming down the road when the yotes were only about 65 yards from us, that ended that spot. headed out to a couple different spots with no luck, we then decided back to the spot we were at earlier and give it 1 more try. wouldnt you know it 10 minutes into the calln we get one to answer about 95 yards behind us he only talked for a little then shut up wldnt you know it about 5 minutes later we see him run across the field at full bore no shots taken. he circled us and got about 45 yards behind us in the woods and made a god awful noise. in the couple years that i have been coyote hunting ive never heard a noise such as this, sounded like a ****ed off person getn run over by a truck, thats about the best as i can descrbe it he never decided to come out into the field idk if he caught our wind or what but he got out of there on our way back to the vehicles we came across numerous sets of tracks. and there actually was 3 sets of tracks about 5 yards from the parked cars. this has become an addiction, people think hearing a turkey gobble or buck gruntn gives you an adrenaline rush you should hear a pack of ****ed of yotes start sounding off at a close distance! great night of hunting ill be back at it again tomoro night!

learn the challenge howl. this time of year if they are howling back you throw a old male a challenge hes coming for a fight. im gonna get out this weekend. some coyote hunters say they can see the red light. try your spots early morning.
