That might not be the biggest one ever caught at Shenango, but it's a real nice one just the same. How many crappie did you catch the other day? They should be starting to bite pretty soon, if they aren't already. I would like to get out there soon, if the weather holds out.

Tues. I'm fishin, boatin, suntannin' and swimmin', this morning I'm caught behind a salt truck. Jeez!! Few small largemouth, several nice(to me) crappies and a pike about 26".Active fish for me were still in 12 - 16 ft.
Eat what you catch,troll for cows.

Got one on the wall that was just shy of 17. A little over 2 lbs. Had it weighed at little Jims when they were open. Got a patch from the fish comm. for it. Have seen some big ones caught over the years. Caught mine back in the early 80,s. Giz can I get a pix of you swimmin? You might have to break ice to do it. lol. John

While I realize they do exsist I would like to see the pictures of these 17 inch Crappies. I fish no less then 50 days each year for Crappies/Bluegills and have yet to land or see a true 17inch Crappie. I have however landed plenty of 1 1/2lb to 2lb Crappies 13 to 15 inch range. It is my goal to land a 17inch or better Crappie for the wall. I am not calling anyone a lier as I know they exsist, but I just hear to many people saying they got one 17 or better and never seeing any proof.
SO MANY FISH SO LITTLE TIME. WHY ARE ALL THE PLACES I HAVE YET 2 FISH SO FAR AWAY?

Chaunc has a picture of a 17 1/4", 2lb 15oz crappie he caught at Ky Lake, over on Crappie.com's Pa board. Seen it yesterday.

Wish I could give you a pic. Maybe someday. A few years ago my grandpap was strolling along Edinboro Lake when some guy just docking asked him if he wanted to see something. He said sure. The guy opened a cooler with an 18 inch crappie inside. Grandpap said it was the biggest he ever saw. They are few but out there. ORIGINAL: egg sac

That would be the trophy of all trophies. I've caught some 16" out of Lake Arthur, there are bigger ones in there I'm sure. I'm positive I had one on in the upper lake at Herford that was every bit of 18" or bigger. I was in my float tube, it got off as I was trying to lip it. I never thought I'd be so disappointed over losing a crappie. It dwarfed any other crappie I've seen.

I got one several years ago that was 18 1/2. Got him on the most obnoxious "lure" you could imagine. I was just goofing off, and drug it out of an old tackle box from when I was a kid. As you guessed it was old too.

They are out there. Pymy and Conneaut Lake have 'em. 2 years ago on the ice we caught 4 crappies off Tuttle Pt. one day that were all over 16" (whites) the largest was 16.75". An ex girlfriend of mine caught one in the north end canal at Conneaut Lake about 4 years ago that was 17.5" (black). The black was obviously the heaviest, I would estimate it at 2.5 to 2.75#.

I've got a 16 1/2" crappie on the wall from woodcock.. Biggest crappie i've ever seen was my fishing buddies kid caught one through the ice at Chatauqua it was 18 1/4..What an awesome fish had a mouth like a bass..Glad I saw it myself hard to beleive crappies get that big..Kids dad had the fish mounted...

I have caught some big crappie out of Shenango, but I have never caught one over 15 inches. I have never even seen one over 15. Any one have any pics of 15 in +?????

That crappie was caught in shenango 20 years ago. I stuck it on the deer head to show the length. That buck has a 21 inch inside spread. The fish has shrunk over the years ,but was close to 17inches long.
