Tomhannock 8/28

The Tomhannock level is very low right now, making many usually inaccessible spots fishable. Some places you can walk over a 1/4 mile of shoreline, which is a rarity.  Good time to be out there.
Went out from noon to 2:00, caught 2 smallish smallies and one beauty with brilliant leopard markings that must have gone 3 lbs.  They all fell for wacky rigged senkos as usual. Failing to bring a camera seems to lead to catching beautiful fish.

Just got back from Cape Cod, did some chunking for stripers and blues to no avail at the mouth of the Bass River and Parkers River. I did get a bluefish deep-sea fishing, but that sucker cost me $41.

There are some really nice fish in that ressie. Too bad they don't allow boats. I'd be on it every week. I'll just look forward to hitting it when the ice comes.

HLS.... my thoughts exactly.  Maybe we should fire off a letter to the mayor and city council of Troy and propose that they allow canoes and rowboats.... I don't think we'd get anywhere with those clowns though.  Maybe if we tell them they could charge $10 or $15 a season for a permit they'd bite at the $ signs, but I doubt it.

Fishing on 8/31 was outstanding til the sun came out around 1:30. I had fish on with 5 straight casts in a new spot I found by walking a long way along the shoreline on the north end. I'll be back there for sure, and if it's the same way again, I'll let you in on the spot.

Ahhhh the fickle Tomhannock. Went to that same place the next day, at the same time. It was mostly sunny however, and not overcast like 8/31. Wind was about the same. Not a single bite.  Strolled the east shore for a changeup, same result. Go figure!

Thats alright, Pro... ya gotta love the old Hannock.  My wife's grandfather grew up around there too, before it even existed.  Raymertown or something. The Hannock was a FDR New Deal project in the 1930s.
