Pxatim if the stream is on the drop and around 8-10cfs does this also mean the stream will be the nice green color as well?

In my experience yes..... all depends though. I've fished it from 10-12cfs after a huge blow out and it was darn near perfect. When speaking of ideal conditions I mean good flow and nice green tint to the water.

No prob... also if there's a big blow out and I'm planning on leaving the next day. If there isn't any rain in the forcast for Erie and it's around 18-20cfs and on the drop.... by the morning it should fish well also.

Jim at Folly's gives very accurate info regarding stream conditions if you have trouble watching the gauges.

I got started going to Erie with an old retired man I worked with while in college. He had no fishing buddies and took my up for my first time. We made a bunch of trips my first year. I graduated the next spring and have never heard from him again. I have tried to look him up but to no avail.. no idea if he's still alive or not. He was in his 70's and that was 7 years ago.

Twenty years ago the bait stores or friends in Erie were all we had to rely on. They gave good solid information at PRW...still do. Maybe it is the approach that dictates the outcome but I have had great experienceds with the tackle stores in and around erie. In the early years I knew a mailman named Larry Miles from Northeast...he got me hooked on Erie. He moved to Conneaut I believe...and i have lost touch.

Hell, if he moved to Connie, I'd find him.  I sure could use a friend in that town.

There will be one in the next couple of years, mark my word.  It will need to be high up on a booby-trapped pole because I have a list of people who would be trying to vandalize it.

Brandy run can be still be high as once the fish that point there are many more miles upstream for the fish to swim. AS the high you get into Elk teh chance that you get lower and clearer water sooner... Just use you noggin and Drive up or down stream till you find conditions to your liking.
