ugly sticks go hard

let me tell you what butt...

I've been fishing for years, owned a ugly stick for as long as I member.  And guys these jokesters and goofballs are really getting on my nerves.  You don't need expensive, custom built rods... all's ya need is the stick and some crawlers, and I'm even picking my own now like my pap used to.  I know what it feels like to be a B.A or Bad **** butt.

Being bad**** is just like a day on the stream to me

I agree that ugly stick makes a great rod. That's what I fish all year, for everything. You are also correct in saying you don't NEED an expensive rod. Alot of guys LIKE expensive rods/gear. Same way my I like my subaru, and another guy chooses mercedes to get him the the creek. It's a choice, sometimes influenced by money, or lack there of. Whatever someone is fishing or how they are fishing doesn't nessecarily classify them as a goofball or a jokester. That should be save for the crap that comes out of thier mouth....ie...

An "ugly" woman has the same ability to get the deed done too. but, some men are a little more picky. I for one don't go to the single bars with a supply of paper bags.

Town badass or inferiority complex...I think your a little boy with dark secrets that make you cry at night whilst you stare at your ceiling tile, just a quivering, sniveling little boy...not much more and even less complicated. Liberate yourself where your pink triangle with pride and show your town some **** pride instead of masking it in a cloak of bravado.

I use a 9' LL Bean 9 wt. on the tribs, for the last 11 years. I broke it on a fish on Walnut about 6 " above the handle. I almost threw up. That was last March 21st. Nice little run. I got on the Net, and ended up sending it to Maine. LL Bean replaced the broken butt end. I wish they would have given me both, but I am pleased that I will be in business again this season. I use a Battenkill 8 / 9 wt., very dependable. I love my rod.

Whatever works for you duuud...Why do you care so much...Your money, your choice.....I don't see anyone here telling people that you "need" an expensive noodle rod or reel...some just choose to have the best of gear that their budget can buy..that's there perog......What do you consider expensive??? FishUSA sells Cortland (Which I have) that are reasonably priced....I have a Okuma Reel on mine....Also reasonably priced...For a whole setup your talking 125$....Which is reasonable if you are passionate about steelheading....I don't think you "need" a noodle rod....But I would sure recommend one.....even if you throw a cheap reel on it (Qauntum makes a good cheaper priced reel...I put one on my new perch pole this year...) has a smooth action and a qaulity drag....JMO though...

I'm with you on the  Quantum, BS....ummm..that don't sound right, B-Slick..there, that bedder

I've had dozens of spinning reels over the years.
most were inexpensive,  a bunch  were mid-priced and a couple large dollar ones.
That cheap $35 dollar Quantum was one of the best.
Another good cheapie I've had great luck with is a Shakespere Cerrera (?)  or sump'um like that

I will admit. The Ugly stick is a long lasting rod and it works just as good as any. When im not fly fishing thats the rod to use, but im not sure on the night crawlers part.
