I saw a guy fishing in what looked like a 14 footer 50 yards offshore outside the Walnut Marina friday morning.  That didn't look like fun to me.

Man you guys really like to rag on the "Man" don't ya...  Wish we were all attorney's with 23ft hawg trollers but we aren't.  You worry about your safety and we'll use common sense and fish when we know we can fish our little boats.  If i wanted to fishout of my living room i'd buy a house boat...

I don't think he was saying that he was going out in 11-14'ers. His reply was to Chartist that made comment about a 14' boat out on Friday (if it was a black aluminum boat it was me, and for the record it's a LONG 14' LOL). Friday had 3-5's with an occasional 6 thrown in, my tiny little boat handles it just fine. BTW - I was probably only 25 - 30 yards off the shore. My new 30HP moves my boat over 5-6'ers just fine (around 45MPH), and worse case I could be on the shore (just beachin it) within a couple minutes. You worry about you and I'll worry about me. Back in the 60's-70's my grandfather took his 15' starcraft out to lake Erie regularly and never had any problems. Why all of a sudden in todays society everyone in Erie thinks you have to have a 30' boat to go 5 miles out ? What a joke, most boats I hear of sinking in lake Erie are over 21'. If you have to have that big of a boat, you must lack the common sense to have a small boat.

Hmmm, and what kind of boat is that??? Did you mean 5-6" waves?

gotta know what kind also. a 14' boat that does 45 mph over 5-6'ers with a 30hp motor is definitely on my Xmas list. perhaps its part submarine.

Nice to see you back online man...

as for his boat, I've been on it...many times... it can handle the waves pretty well... even when he only had the 9.9 we handled some decent waves.  Haven't been on since he put the new motor on (because he never calls) but I am sure it's just fine for 5-6'ers...

chow, i was on that wall about 30 years ago, throwing a cleo, and had a wave flatten me, and just about knocked me off of that wall.  i scurried like a rat back to the sand.  old mr. kightlinger warned me before i went out.  should have listened.
