Fished Laurel Hill down from the Boy Scout camp last weekend.  It was low but plenty fishable.  Can't speak for upstream from the lake.  That usually is very low this time of year.

Im down whenever but im only 45 mins away.

November is good along the Highlands though, def my second choice for a big trout besides Ear Eye.

I say we do it at meadow, more room, more fish, cooler scenery, and OhioP is close, too.  Good place to meet.

Stupid fish get dumped the first weekend of Nov.

They're stacked in LH as-is, though.

Will this event be open to all anglers regardless of choice of equipment? I think it should be all inclusive. Might have a broader appeal that way. This event seems to be gathering support. Hope it happens. Be nice to meet and mingle with some fellow board members.

That's why I'm leaning with Laurel Hill, like Cold mentioned you have the choice of stream or lake fishing.

Location: Laurel Hill or Meadow? TBD

Possible Date: Sunday Oct 4, Saturday Oct 24, Sunday Oct 25....Whatever works.

If we want to do a tackle swap we could hold it around lunch or at the end of the day?

The trash can man is in, but he doesn't fly fish.  He has the rod, but doesnt know how to use it or what to put on it.

If you do it on a sunday, the steelers have a bye on Nov 1st.

Let's just make it Laurel Hill so everyone that wants to attend can fling whatever they want this time and have a choice of the lake or streams.

I was thinking that since the brown trout and brookies will be spawning soon, we could get a dixie cup of eggs between the 40 of us, if you're up for it. Just make sure to pass out a box cutter to everyone who shows up.

Seriously, though. What weekend is looking good?

LOL

Any weekend is good I was leaning towards Oct. 3, Oct. 4, or Oct 18 but that's before and after One Fly.

Sorry, you guys that follow the Steelers say what Saturday works the best as I don't watch football.

Oh, btw, I like the idea of LH, just to accommodate the widest variety of anglers (lake/stream, trout/non-trout, DHALO/not), but whatever is decided upon is fine.

If it happens on a Sunday, the Steelers' bye is probably the best time for it, as HCH mentioned, though Saturdays might work better. I really can't say what'd work better for me at all, as my weekends are nearly constantly subject to change lately.

M^2, any saturdays work, but sundays mean football, especially steelers football. I dont have a schedule on hand, but apparently their bye week is the week of 11/1. If you want to hold it on a Sunday, that'd be a good one, or the next one, 11/8, when the Steelers play Monday night, which would also be just after the fall stocking on Laurel Hill.

Cold, where you getting your info from? According to the Fish Commission site the stocking is Oct 6. I vote for the the Saturday or Sunday after the one fly. Oct 17th or 18th.

No problem Cold. I know absolutely nothing about that stream other than what I can read. checked out the stocking list and it said October. Thought maybe you were talking about a club stocking or something. One of them secret things lol!

so this is a pinner gathering?

For the record, I do not pin, own a pin, or have an interest in pinning anywhere besides off the back of a mooching boat in the Puget Sound, doing what the pin was originally designed for.

Thats not what the centerpin was originally designed for.

Mooching reels are the same concept as a centerpin reel....free-spooling....it has better use in the ocean is what I was getting at.

But back on topic.

What about Keystone State Park.  The fishing there is pretty decent, it also gets stocked this fall with trout.  The park is nice park as well, there are plenty of picnic tables, only 1 pavillion, and you can use boats there.  Keystone is closer to Pgh as well.
