I was thinking...

All this talk of the "One Fly" has got me wondering, why couldn't we organize something like this in the southern part of the state  like a few weeks after opening day of trout? Or hold something along the lines of the Shenago Outting?

Just kicking it out there LOL

I think Cold (?)threw out a idea before for a possible Fall outting on a stream near Latrobe or the laurel highlands..

Never came of it, but sounds like fun.

Yeah, I suggested it, along with a few others.

My idea was to hit a local stream not long after the fall stocking. I had suggested a DHALO project, but really, anywhere would work that was big enough and had enough room for parking.

Last year, I was thinking the Laurel Hill DHALO. Meet & greet in the morning at the park, then hit the stream (either get the trail from the lake up, or drive into the scout camp and fish back toward the lake). Eat an afternoon meal, then continue fishing.

Its tough in the fall tho, because most here would rather spend a nice weekend in Erie rather than Somerset county.

why wouldn't you just do it at the Yough?

I like the idea. I would like to know if a way could be figured out to combine a flea market type of deal for those interested, to bring along and put up for sale fishing equipment they no longer need or want, or perhaps even trade. No retailers or sales rep's, just an informal way to buy or sale between those attending. Trying to buy or sale via the internet can present it's own set of problems. A flea market, some fishing combined with a picnic sounds like a fun time to me. What do you think?

If someone wanted to spearhead some sort of Southern PA outting I'll help out or even organize one if there is enough interest and no one else rather have the reigns.

Big, Upper and Lower Twin comes to mind pavillions, tables, and grills. Shawnee did too but the fishing sucks there  LOL! Cool idea something different.

MM, fishing sucks at Twin too.

I was thinking Laurel Hill because you have stream AND lake, trout AND typical lake species (iirc, there's pike in LH lake), plenty of parking and facilities (pavilions, electric hookups, etc), nice surroundings, and in the spring and fall the fishing is prety darn good too.

I also like the idea of a "Swap Meet".

Anymore ideas or input? Or if we should even organize something at all?

Swap Meet sounds fun, though I can't sell any fishing gear, but I'm always interested in buying something.

For the record, I do not pin, own a pin, or have an interest in pinning anywhere besides off the back of a mooching boat in the Puget Sound, doing what the pin was originally designed for.
