rod question/fishing question

I think I asked this before but is a 7/8 weight 9' flyrod adeqete for salmon fishing?  Another question  If I fish mid october will most of the salmon be done running and will browns be more of my choice to fish.  Actually I would like to fish the first week in november but I have a family wedding i must go to, and if i don't I will be singing soprano the rest of my life.  After the first week of november I am booked to the**** with work related duties.  No work, no pay, no fish!!!

Best of luck to all of you!!

    silverman,

A 7/8 wt. is a good all around rod, especially for steelies. For strictly Kings, a 9 wt. is best, you really need a good strong butt section to muscle those fish.

There will be plenty of Kings around all October and well into November. Browns are there now and will be there then also. Hooking into a nice Brown during your trip will be a special surprise as those fish a more of a rarity unless you specifically target them with your technique and set-up.
