    Yes the nuts were not prepared correctly. Most require soaking for 24-48 hours to absorb the liquid then boilied to further absorb more.The nuts were chummed in and the fish ate them and they expanded inside the fish killing it I guess. Overseas carp fishing is a huge deal compared to here. I think in the article the fish was worth around 35,000 US dollars just to give you an idea how serious carp fishing is overseas.
