Vanish is horrific. I saw Al "I'll Hawk Any Product for Money" Lindner use it one time and I think  he had an orgasm over that line - of course, it was 75 degrees out. Vanish is the worst line I have used in my 46 years of fishing - it frays, its brittle, and kinks too easily. Other than that, it's terrific.

One hard run in the fall by a steelie with Vanish on and your line looks like Shirley Temple's hair!  Never again!  For me and how much abuse and use I put the line through, it is terrible.  It may work out fine for those who fish a few times a year.

As I said: In warm weather (at least 60 degrees), Vanish is absolutely fine, in light lineweights (2-6 lb). I've pulled in several trout in the 16-20" range on a 2 yr old spool of the stuff. Obviously, it struggles in cold weather though.

Yes in warm weather the line is fine.  I use it in Canada for bass and pike and have no problems.  I used to use it for steel when I first started and did like it and still like it but when it gets below freezing it can give you problems.  And like shutupnfish said a couple strong runs can make the line look shirley temples hair.  Who wants to continously strip line off after every few fish.  I went to the Spiderwire flouro and can't complain at all.

I've been trying to use 10# for bass lately and every 20 minutes i gotta re-tie my line because it brittles. I just got some 6# vicious and tested it out on some creek fish with success. I'm gonna do it again tonite
