Do you have to read every thread?  Nope.  We all have the ability to either answer a question for a rookie....or move on to the next thread.  If anyone's sanity is affected by that concept then there are some real problems.

Yeah, NO questions please!!  Especially about fishing....I know just because this is labeled a fishing discussion board,  newcomers would assume to ask "fishing" related questions here.  But c'mon dudes, FishErie has evolved into something way more than that....If you'd like to ask fishing related questions and have them seriously considered, a better suited site may be OGF or Salmon Crazy.....Geeeeeze!  Now, if you'd like a good laugh, made fun of or even throw in some of your own sensless banter; you are certainly welcome to do it right here at FishErie.com!  Certainly a more welcomed attitude here than that of a "true" fisherman's.  Have fun and stay thirsty my friend!

sarcasim? I think I speak for most of the people on the forums when I say that I do not mind answering questions that are asked reguardless of how novice they are.  What bothers me is when things have been discussed over and over again and people choose not to use the search feature.  I just started fly fishing recently and have learned much more just reading and listening and watching people than I have from asking questions.  Again the search feature works wonders.  I think KJH is just trying to make it easier for novices to locate answers and prevent the board from being polluted with the same info thread after thread.  Good idea dude...and to anyone with questions that have been thought out and researched and still cannot be answered please do not hesitate to ask.

RE: MIKE G... please help 2009/08/03 11:14:44 (permalink)
I guess, in my profession, I'm used to answering a lot of questions....also having two young boys at home (4 & 6) I'm used to it by now.  Even repeating the same answers to the same questions, but by different people.  Learning starts with a question an experience or memory.  And who really wants to go back through old threads for information...isn't it more fun to get a live response from someone you know is out there listening and taking the time to answer your Q?  I know, I know, there are some dumb Qs out there and that comes with the territory...it happens in ALL aspects of life - DUMBNESS.  So let it go and ignore it if you don't care for it or like it, thats all...Just my honest opinion here...  And sarcasm certainly goes both ways.

Finally, this site has come a long way as far as membership is concerned.  And there ARE CERTAINLY a lot of good people here!  However, IMHO, for serious fishermen or someone looking for concrete "fishing" information or knowledge, not what it used to be or comparable to some of the other sites out there.  With that said, I still frequent FishErie, met a lot of good people and fishermen here and continue to do so because I like it for what it is.....A bar

    Good Fishing.

Kjh  I don't know why it would bother you to see the same old questions over and over. If you see the question ignore it. Should someone get on here and have to look in all the archives, to see if it is ok the ask a question? It doesn't matter how stupid you think it is. It may be from a 10 year old kid. In 2yrs. and 9months you have posted 2,534 times. How much of that do you think is nonsense talk? I would say,Most. But you don't see anyone complaining. You have posted some great pictures and fish'n stories. Just CHILL! Steelhead season will be here!

My Wife said, if I go fish'n one more time, she'll leave me! God, I'm going to miss her!

mike... I have yet to figure why you do not just sticky a thread about the search button for new comers to avoid the inevitable

I'm making the 4 hour trip with some buddies, my father in law, my neighbor, and his second cousin, and need to know what flies should I use. Do bait work better then flies? Where is the best fishing/least number of people. Please be specific.

    spoon,

could not have said it better... I completely agree, we're here to talk, but others feel different and I was leaning towards sparing some feelings.

    NO!
thats why i wanted MikeG to sticky the thread that has links to ALL the info

i say what i think/feel and how i see things... and post pictures

but why waste the wealth of knowledge that is already on this site???
why answer a question with a thought out response, when 3 days later the same question will be asked...
it is a loose-loose situation for both those inquiring and those who could help

lets be honest.... this place is shlthoused
every thread goes to guru-speak, goth girls, or 4 pages of less than 5 members having an converation

the Mike G collection has the info anyone would need to plan and prepare a trip to erie, showup, and catch fish
